She didn't wear it for the cvil ceremony. She just wore it on the way there and into the building. She changed into a white dress just above the knee for the civil ceremony.

Why did she have to wear a different outfit on the way there? Is that a common thing for girls to do...? ha-.

At least she had the common sense not to wear that dress for the civil ceremony if front of the judge and priest!

There's no priest at a civil ceremony. That picture is not from her actual wedding day. It's from the day before when they had to have a civil ceremony because of French law. She just wore that dress in the car and then changed into an above the knee, conservative (and a little bit ugly) white dress. And yes, it's pretty common to change when you get to the wedding venue.
