You guys should wait and be your own critics...you all appear to be way too caught up in other people's opinions.
If you ignore the critics, you'll be pleasantly surprised more often than let down or disappointed.
300 had mild Halo Syndrome, meaning it didn't impress me as much as everyone said it would. I liked it, GOD yes, I liked it. Is it the best movie of all time? No.

I was speaking from my own opinion, not the box office's. I saw both, and preferred Sin City.
You think so? I think it was pretty factual for a movie. The main parts of the battle were there.
But by the same token, Sin City was a pretty faithful adaptation of the graphic novel....more so than V For Vendetta, but that's another matter.

That Sin City followed its original graphic novel more closely than V For Vendetta. And before you ask, yes, I've read the original VfV. I *own* the original VfV. I'm not saying the movie sucked. I thought the changes they made (i.e. making Creedy more significant) were acceptable...with the possible exception of the removal of the Fate computer.
Well put but no movie can be true to the book since each director has their own interpretation. Just as each person who reads a book has their own interpretation based on what they are reading.
Oh, I know. I saw V before I read it...>,>; But not by much. I ran out to B&N after seeing it and bought the graphic novel. Each has something better to the other. Where the movie has Creedy, the graphic novel has the Fate computer, so on and so forth. I'm not complaining about the changes (again, with the possible exception of the removal of Fate. I named my laptop Fate after reading V.) by any means. V actually restored my liking for the Wachowski Brothers.

Jesus Christ. It is not based on the historical battle; although there were lots of similarities if you know the actual history. It is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller.
I've read Herodotus, Thucydides, Paul Cartledge, etc long before this movie was in the spot light. The Spartans were as hardcore as they get. I thought the movie was badass and give it a 9/10.
I watch it on my Ipod whenever I have 2 hours to kill.

Both 300 and Sin City were two of the best movies of the last few years. Original and different take on the genre and I love that formula.
