He is not worth more than the Vet. Minimum...... If the Spurs are able to guarantee only so much than it would be ok because it may not cost them as much....

He is very streaky but when he is on, he is on.... But then again we went through the same thing with Nick Van Exel and he turned out to be a bust. The Spurs should have gone after someone like Jason Hart but its too late now.....

I am just hoping that the Spurs can land Udoka so that they have two solid defenders......
Good point. I too would have much rather preferred Jason Hart. The Spurs simply didn't act soon enough.

I think the abstract comparison is that Hudson, unlike NVE is high-risk-minimal reward. NVE was at least high-risk, high reward. It could work, but the fear is that he'd need solid, consistant minutes to excel in our system or any system...and he won't get them here. He'd have to prove he could defend at an average rate for those minutes-which he can't. The way Pop is and has worked is that you have to break your back during the 4-minute-a-game "tryout" period that he'd have Hudson at for the first 35 games of the season. Hudson would complain publicly...the lockerroom would get wierd and Pop don't play that. He'd be cut and it'd be a failed experiment. Rather than take a chance, let's just stick with Beno.
NVE = rings. Spurs romped to another le his year in the Alamo City.

I wouldn't mind signing Hudson for a minimum deal. He could be a situational guy: when the Spurs need defense from the point, Jacque runs the show. When the team is desperate to space the floor, they can give Hudson a few minutes. He'd be a decent third string PG for this team if he can step in and hit an open J.

Hmmm, I have visions of that guy getting hot and raining jumpers like the Jaren Jacksons, Stephen Jacksons, and Steve Kerr's for that 1 magical game.
If he is at a minimum price, then I say, let him come workout.

Hudson is one of the game's streakiest players. When the going is good, T-Hud is pretty solid. When he goes cold, Thud sucks.

Yet he hasn't been on the good side of streaky since 2003. I believe that was a while ago.

    Troy Hudson: Cavs Interested

    RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com
    Sunday, August 5, 2007
Update: The Cavaliers have shown interest in Hudson, whose $12 million buyout became official on Friday, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Recommendation: Hudson, a 10-year veteran who averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 assists last year for Minnesota, is reportedly interested in coming to the Cavs and would play for the veteran's minimum. Cleveland is looking for a starter-quality point guard for the upcoming season, but not someone that will stunt the growth of Daniel Gibson.

Hudson fits into the "sign a guy who had a career game against the Spurs" plan.

Also is coming from the Twolves.

Hmm, who was the last guy like that?

Hold on a minute here.....Is this the Same Troy Hudson that i posted that was getting bought out by Minnesota and might being going to Boston to be with his buddy K.G.? and then got blasted for posting the info on Spurs Talk.
Then i explained how the Spurs might be interested in him as a free agent and maybe they could sign him instead of Boston?.......Interesting........

Don't tell me you're running the ing Spurs front office now. That'd make a lot of sense now, how crap the offseason has been.

Is this the same Troy Hudson whose new rap album, "Undrafted" sold a mere 78 copies in its first week, and officially went "wood?"

This is the same guy who sold 78 copies of his rap album. Must be looking for work in the NBA to subsidize his rapping career...

Free agent point guard Troy Hudson's agent, Bill Neff, said his client is interested in joining the Cavs. It's unclear how much interest the Cavs have in Hudson.

So Payton, Wilks, Boykins and Hudson, right? Of course, that's all the point guards that I can think of.

EDIT: I just thought of one that's not better than Beno: Dee Brown. I'd still rather have him here than Beno, though.
