yeah and the guy from Ratt had like 50 drums but he is still a hack
Fair enough... I haven't really encountered anyone like that, but then again, I went to a college where a lot of students' music collection consisted entirely of Contemporary Christian selections.

It's about context. Ringo was pretty revolutionary for his time. Compare "Strawberry Fields Forever" to other songs that came out in 1967.
I can agree with you here...thats really annoying...but they are really good, whether you admit it or not...the overzealous fans of any band can kind of ruin it in a way...just like tool fans think tool is some gift to intelectual rock...they are a great band, but cmon...their songs are almost all the exact same ...lol...anyway...yea..![]()
Did anybody actually look at this list?
11Kirk Hammett of Metallica
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
17 Jack White of the White Stripes
70 Eddie Van Halen
![]()
I realize these lists are totally subjective but how can those guys be in the top 20 and EVH be #70?!
Not to mention that Joan Jett is 9 places ahead of Angus Young!!!
I'm not basing my opinion on sheer dislike for the band. I actually liked their music at one point; but all the crazy people that turned him into a god have turned me off on that band. If you listed every single band to ever record a album, and you listed them from best to worst, DMB would land smack dab in the middle. There are hundreds of hands better than them, and obviously some that are worse.
I remember not too long ago when I went off on Metallica on this board. Man how this reminds me of that![]()
RS lists make good toilet paper.
yea...they are totaly subjective...i agree with a small portion of them, and others are just so far off its crazy.
I overstate a bit. I've actually discovered a lot of great music I wouldn't have heard otherwise because they were on RS' Top 500 Albums list...
But their lists are incredibly limited, with a clear bias towards US/UK rock music and the 60's and 70's.
It's Rolling Stone. The same publication that put 4 Beatles albums in their Top 500 Albums of all time list - including Sgt. Peppers #1. It's funny how the same year Sgt. Peppers came out a much more musically influential, and IMO all around better album came out - Cream's Disraeli Gears. 1st major use of the wah pedal in rock and some of the best, most creative rock drumming. It blows Sgt. Peppers completely out of the water.
Eddie Van Halen is a complete , but he's done more for the guitar than anyone since Les Paul. The guy's an absolutely brilliant musician.
Arguing over music tastes is fairly pointless and never leads anywhere.
Anyway, that rebuttal to O'Reily was awesome.
That could be said about any subject that people are passionate about so I will argue a little more. How the can they leave Slash totally off the list?!![]()
Joe Satriani isn't even listed on that list.
More than that, there were 5 Beatles albums in the top 10 alone.
They also had both "With the Beatles" and "Meet the Beatles" on the list, and those are just UK and US versions of, essentially, the same album.
this is like 6 degrees on Bill O'Reilly. It started with Bill and now is naming the top guitar players and albums of all time. LOL Classic
I noticed that too.
At least Joni Mitc came in at #72. Two places below Van Halen and 12 places ahead of Tony Iommi.![]()
I think that list is for guys who play guitar, not masturbate with one.
