cheech marin is not in a gang. but he was born in east la
And I love baseball... I fail to see what it has to do with the discussion.

They have been selling white caps with the bandana image on them for years? I thought they came out last year.
does joseph abbot specifically make high end suits for "urban youth culture"?
im shocked no one made a stink on that poster.
"The wrong side of the line"
WTF??![]()
Thank you SB, you are wise
Fillmoe's got a point. I haven't seen it anywhere, but I wonder how long the caps were out before people became upset.
And Pasadena. And Altadena. And Torrance. And Duarte. And... pretty much everywhere.
Stupid design.
nopedoes joseph abbot specifically make high end suits for "urban youth culture"?
New Era makes caps for people who root for the teams
gangs take them and adopt them.
See my point now?
blue and red dew rags will never stop being sold, nor should they. New Era took these symbols and used them just and blood and crip gang memebrs used them.
This has been gong on for years. Seriously, this is nothing new. Companies have been "urban targeting" for like two decades now.
The first controversy I heard was when the Colorado Rockies came out with their logo. It was a blatant crips tie-in.

Reebok has pioneered the practice in sports gear. I've read articles about it in the past. While yes, this one was more blatant than most, it's a common practice.
Theres gangsters that wear just a regular Yankees hat.
Theres punks that wear just a regular Cardinals or Reds hat.
Should New Era stop making those hats?
well i originally posted it in the baseball forum because it was baseball related... now that the Yankees are off the hook it's strictly New Era who ed up
Here I was stupid to think it was the C for Colorado, and the R for Rockies. The first controversy I heard was when the Colorado Rockies came out with their logo. It was a blatant crips tie-in
i've always seen your point and i think you get mine, you just want to stick to your original position, and that's cool, but surely you see what is wrong with these caps.. SURELY?
Nope.
New Era makes caps for people who root for the teams.
But New Era specifically made these caps for gang members who root for the teams.
See the point now?
Are you also well versed in crips graffiti symbols that predated the existence of the Rockies?
I can see how it can be misconstrued as such yeah.but surely you see what is wrong with these caps.. SURELY?
You interpret it as a totally gangster evil hat.
I look at it as an ugly yankees hat.
yeah, i remember the colorado rockies and oakland raiders caps being adopted by certain gangs... it's a chicken and egg thing, i'm not entirely sure what came first
Now they are copying old NHL Logos? Are you also well versed in crips graffiti symbols that predated the existence of the Rockies?
The bas s....
Ehhh...I have to disagree on that end.
These fashion caps are being marketed and designed for a youth culture.
Baseball guys like you and me aren't buying these caps.
I've seen the point. But New Era specifically made these caps for gang members who root for the teams.
See the point now?
I just find it hard to believe.
but it's so much more than that
Yeah I was just making the point that if TSA was on the lookout for high gang activity, it's not on the regular streets of downtown - that's mostly bumsBut Crips & Bloods can be found easily in L.A. Go stand on the corner of MLK and Crenshaw.
