Nice win....but seriously..how could this team beat the US team a few years back...damn.
Damn was this person way off base. Nobody is coming within 20 pts of the US in this tournament. I'm not so sure if Greece, Spain, or a full strength Argentina could hang with this group for 4 quarters. This is a much different team than the last few years.

what happened lil' ? *cough cough* i mean arroyo.
You should've seen him play for your team. All he does is dribble, dribble, dribble.....shoot!! Then he'll go over to the other end and give the other team freebies.![]()

noo... that can't happen![]()
Yea because it was the refs that caused 26 missed 3 pointers. This is the worst officiated game I have ever seen. This is worse than the 6 games the Mavs got jobbed by crooked Donaghy and his crooked band of refs. Puerto Rico is getting jobbed big time, and it's wrong. They should be winning if not for the hometown USA refs!!![]()
The refs could have called 18 more fouls, and even if the Puerto Rican team made very single free throw they would still lose. They also missed 51 field goals. Where they practicing with a beach ball??
Close game. Could have gone either way. You'll get 'em next time, I'm sure.
The US played about as bad as Ive seen them play all tourney, and they still blew them out. The refs were making bad calls both ways. Blaming the loss on them is probably the weakest way out of a stupid prediction ever
Very true but when you are a dumbass...you don't have a lot of choice.Blaming the loss on them is probably the weakest way out of a stupid prediction ever![]()
Losing by under 10 pts with some questionable reffing, you could cite the refs as culpable.
Getting blown out by over 30 for a majority of the game....
Well it was a close game........![]()

United States 117, Puerto Rico 78
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 28, 2007 -- The Americans made Athens look like ancient history.
Three years after its stunning loss in the Olympics, the United States smothered Puerto Rico in a 117-78 victory Tuesday night in the FIBA Americas tournament.
There is absolutely no reason that the USA should ever lose a game in international compe ion. A loss is inexcusable in my opinion. With the talent we have it's simply a matter of focus.
when all else fails, blame the refs.
weak.
Agreed. There is absolutely no reason that the USA should ever lose a game in international compe ion. A loss is inexcusable in my opinion. With the talent we have it's simply a matter of focus.
It was funny at the end when they blocked that one dude trying for the last two points and he threw up his hands like
wtf!? Thinking they were going to give it to him.
That was funny, they gave Derron Williams a dunk at the other end, and then when they came down Chandler blocked the out of him, pretty funny stuff
Yeah that was a punk move by Chandler....I wonder what would have happened if someone contested that dunk by Deron...I guess go strong or don't come at all.
Playing defense is a punk move?
Chandler barely plays. He's the US team's end of the bench guy; there was no way he was gonna let that go.
Puerto Rico let Deron get a dunk though, I guess the guy figured he'd pad his stats a little..unfortunately, I think Chandler was thinking the same thing.![]()
I guess I am old school. I believe you play until the whistle blows.
Just a personal opinion, not a suggested course of action.
yeah, that's what they do in Arizona.
I think you can modify that way of thinking when your team is up 40 points and there's 2 seconds left and the other team just let your teammate have an uncontested dunk.
I don't have a huge problem with it. But, I don't think he should have done it.
agreed. this dont shoot 3's, don't dunk, bs is what sore losers like to scream because they cant ever win.
i say play and play hard at that. kick them when they are down and throw a few bows too just for fun.
