    Salary Considerations:

    Nowitzki (2007-2008) = $16,360,095.00

    Ginobili (2007-2008) = $9, 075,000.00
    Parker (2007-2008) = $10,500,000.00

    1. The salaries of Many and Tony exceed Dirk's by $3,214,905.00. Who else am I getting so that the salaries match? It could make a difference.

    2. Dirk can't play two positions simultaneously and log 80+ minutes per game if necessary. (I can't clone him.) Obvious? Yes, but you are trading two all-star calibre players for one. You can't escape that. (A $3 million player is generally not an all-star.)

    3. Traditionally, you trade big for small if you can. The problem is that this "truism" came from a time when all big men were low post players. Dirk is not a dominating interior presence. In constrast, Manu and Tony like to penetrate for high percentage baskets, and often score more points in the paint than Dirk.

    4. IMHO, Dirk is not so much a choker as a guy who refused to learn to play in the post at a high skill level. He would be much more valuable as a big if he did. Since he does not, it's hard to trade him for two players as valuable as Parker and Ginobili.

Think about it! Tim and Dirk, side by side like when David Robinson was side by side with Tim Duncan! The twin towers are back! and in full effect!

    ask yourself ........
"would you give up Manu and Parker for Dirk"?

    clutch vs anti-clutch?

    no.

no and nooooooooooooooooooo. Guard plays are really important since the rule change for perimeter players. Plus, good PG is really hard to come by and very important to the team. And you can't find a winner like Manu that easy. Dirk.........no and noooooooooooooooooo.

Dirk hits the three, s a allstar rebounder.. he drives to the lane which is is a high percentage shot or foul. HE also doesn't choke at the end of games on free throws like duncan and defer to manu to close out games.

    Nowitzki (2007-2008) = $16,360,095.00

Yes. Definitely. The Spurs would be idiotic if they didn't make that deal. Essentially they would be trading 2 role players for a superstar.

Yea but Dirk hasn't proved he can step up when it matters. If we didnt win we would know it was exactly because Dirk choked again. Then we could sit back and say damn this wouldn't of happened with Tony and Manu

Would you trade Dirk and Josh Howard for Manu?

Or maybe Golden State would entertain Dirk and Josh Howard for Byron Davis.

what the is the point of this thread? It's irrelevant so what is with all the hypothetical scenarios ? Would you trade X for Y or X for Z or even X for Y and Z

Nobody is trading Parker or Manu for Dirk! You don't trade to players for 1 especially since both players combined do more than that one player!

I think it is that simple. Whether we want to characterize Parker and Ginobili as all-star caibre players or roleplayers, they are both significant pieces of a championship team that cannot be easily replaced. I don't even think you consider that trade when it's two for one.

WTF, why would Mavs trade dirk and jho for Manu or one hit wonder Baron Davis? And why would we mess around with a championship team?
Why don't we go further here....would we trade Oberto for Kobe, Lebron, and KG? Would Lakers trade Kwame for Duncan? This thread is laughable.

WTF, why would Mavs trade dirk and jho for Manu.
The Mavs could then get some Championship experience. Winning, that is.

or one hit wonder Baron Davis?
So they can get out of the 1st round.

And why would we mess around with a championship team?
We won't. Manu is gonna have another '05 playoffs.

Judging by your posts, I think you'd give Manu a handjob if the opportunity arose.

What has Dirk won other than an MVP award that most of the media voters are already regretting giving him anyways?
The All-stars 3 point compe ion.
