Uh, the lead shouldn't have an effect on the amount of effort you give while your in the game.
Wrong. When you're Tim Duncan, every second you're banging in the paint is wear and tear and an injury risk. At his age, he has to pace himself. He has to protect himself. He is the franchise player.

He needs to bang and go for and-1s when the Spurs NEED him to, not when a fool like you WANTS him to.

Bottom line is that Tim isn't atheletic enough to dunk on anybody on the low post anymore unless if the lane is clear. Tim was never a freak of an athelete to begin with ala DRob/Dwight Howard/Shaq. Look at Shaq now, he's out grown his athleteicism and a s of his former self, because he has no other aspect to his game except being a monster athlete. Duncan needs to rely more on smarts than going hard to the rim, if he does that it will usually be a made bucket, a trip to the FT line ,or an And1. That is why Tim is similar to Kareem, he isn't athletic, but is sound in fundamentals and skillfull to be productive even in his last seasons, because he doesn't have to rely on atheleticism.

Oh ok, so you throw up a pansy layup that gets blocked by a guard! And go 2-13 and put up 5-5! Yeah, I sure am glad he's pacing himself. Duncan paced himself last season and put up 20-10. 'Nuff said.

sorry to be a jerk but i dont buy that conciliatory tone when the other side of your mouth is saying you have a better team. scoreboard is all that matters, mavs fan, and the spurs have 4 in 9 while your mavs are 0 in 27.
We are not talking about Championships today. We are talking about head to head matchups between the Mavs and Spurs. And to use your analagy that "scoreboard is all that matters" well then 9 out of the last 15 have been won by the Mavs, including a 7 game playoff series in which you had home court........So i guess you are right, the scoreboard is all that matters.

I would agree....scoreboard is all that matters but it has to be relevant to the conversation. If you are talking about the last 15 games, then yes, the Mavs have scoreboard. If you are talking about historical success, then the Spurs have it. IMO,the only relevant thing is what is going on right now this season....right now, neither team has scoreboard. It's weak for Mav fan to bring up the 06 playoff series to back up their stance just as much as its weak for Spurs fan to bring up "we have 4 rings" to back up theres. Its about what is going on right now. The Spurs are the defending champs but being that en les them to nothing now. It doesn't give you extra points or automatic wins.

I think some of you make too much of an off night.

Although every great that has aged, either falls off the map, or slows down. Duncan is slowing down, like DRob did. The only difference is TD is so good, he can just turn it on again unlike others before him. Except Jordan, Malone before he joined the Lakers.

Tim Duncan's game has never been entirely predicated on athleticism, so it is plausible that younger athletes will pack a shot or several of his. Plus he's 31, not 23, and in fairness, he's probably less alert since its early in the season. I'd imagine come playoff time he'd have more oomph round the rim and finish better. I'm not worried.

First of all the stats prove that your big 3 is not better than ours. You just choose to ignore them.

Secondly, Terry will probably win 6th man of the year this year.

And lastly, the rest of your team, beyond your big 3 is average at best and our bench is as good or better and deeper.

The overall stats show that currently

We Shoot a higher percentage from the field
You shoot higher from 3 pt.
We shoot a higher percentage from the line.
    Rebound the same as yours
    Assist are the same
    You get more steals
    We get more blocks
You turn it over 1 less

We average 102.4 ppg and allow 95.0
You averaage 99.0 ppg and allow 89.8

The stats are pretty darn even. Which is why the games are so compe ive.
Although it should be noted the Mavs have won 9 of the last 15 against you.
And that is what we are talking about this week, a head to head game.

And i appologize for lumping all Spurs fans into the category as arrogant. My wife is from there and she will tell you that only about half are arrogant.

The other half realize that the 2 best teams in the league for the last 5 years are the Spurs and the Mavs and it is a shame that they can't meet in the finals.

hahaha, all terry can do is hit jump shots and EVERYONE knows that he can't do it with the consistency he is showing right now all season!!! manu will win 6th man due to his all around impressive game... terry just hits jump shots... during the reg season.... when they matter very little.

oh.. and... point differential..................................... i rest my case. all your other stats. you're right, i don't pay attention to them because they don't mean .

no, you are talking about your mavs being a better team, and a better team would have at least made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs- we made it to the finals, and won. hence, we are a better team. (and we've done it multiple times with the same core).

come back to me when the mavs win another playoff series, the last time was over a year ago.

Yeah, Timmy was a little weak in the low block.

Let me follow some of you guys around for 10 years and see if you don't put up "WEAK " every now and then. Give the guy a break.

I heard an announcer during a Spurs game say that Tim's shot was the third most blocked shot in the league. I think it was a couple of years ago and who knows who said it. I can't find that stat anywear. Could be totally bogus, but it might look something like this...

Players with their shot BLOCKED the most:
    1. Earl Boykins
    2. Nate Robinson
    3. Tim Duncan

No. I swear they mentioned Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph as those two guys.

Duncan = post player, so no wonder he gets his shot blocked. He blocks em back anyway, and he alters most of the shots. We got a win, in a part because probably of Duncan's interior defense.

Yea, I was just kidding, those were just two really short players I could think of off the top of my head.

So you did hear that too, I'm not halusinating? Who said it?

Man Jordan Farmar Threw It Down On Duncan Too Top Shelf! He Got Blocked By Kobe Twice. I Think Turiaf Rejected Him Too.

Did Shaq Also Follow The Coast Through The Regular Season Theory?

Is It Good For Superstars To Coast? Maybe There Is A Difference Because Horry Was Never A Star?

Getting Dunked On By Farmar Is Pretty Embarrassing For A Spurs Fan.

But Duncan Doesn't Really Care Because He Isn't Even A Star Anymore, Manu And Tony Do All The Leg Work. He Just Dribbles Until He Gets A Double Team.

Check the Scoreboard. The Spurs won, Duncan was injury free, move onto the next game...

Farmar can dunk all he wants to, but he still won't lead his team to victory which is all that matters.

You have not gotten past us in the Playoffs in the last 5 years when Dirk was playing? 2002 Dirk was out 3 games and 2006 you lost to us on your own court.

Golden St. was/is our achilles for the last 2 years. I do not dissagree with that at all! But we are 85% against the entire remainder of the league.

And you are right i am talking about who is the better team when the 2 teams play each other. That is exactly what i am talking about. And for the past few years, head to head, we are better than you. Barely, but we are just slightly better 9 to 6 in games and 1 playoff series.

I give the Spurs all the credit in the world. We built our team to compete with the Spurs for the last 5 years. We acheived our goal of doing so 2 years ago.

    I can't wait for tomorrow!

You haven't achieved . Even if you win tomorrow, it doesn't mean . Last night I walked in the front door of the Spurs arena... you know what I saw? 4 fukin trophies.

A Thursday night game in November doesn't mean . I wouldn't be surprised if Duncan comes in street clothes and they focus on Friday's home game.

So what is he supposed to do? Blast the guy in the air, get ejected, suspended a couple of games, etc?

Jump 2 feet off the ground and block it into the stands? Land on someone's foot and twist an ankle?

The Spurs are up by 20 and you're worried about a guy with a 4 ft vertical slamming one home?

I guess I was blinded by the glow of the four trophies.
