Sure... there's an official Scola thread in the NBA forum. But since many people have now refueled their hatred for the Scola trade (thanks to Scola's outstanding performance), I figured I'd merge the latest threads here.

So go ahead and use this thread.

I guess if Pop is so mad that he "could spit" about Scola being a Rocket, I'm guessing he wasn't on board with that trade.

It is just the begining, it is just the begining ... imagine when Scola understand NBA (in a year or so) ...

    Scola had a good game.

I refuse to waste my energy on a would've/should've/could've event.
    The Spurs traded him.
Pop is spitting about it and even he can't change it.

    It's done, over, past.

    I'm a Spurs fan.
I'll continue to cheer them on.

People were hidden when Scola wasn't playing well and now that he has a good game, they go crazy. Bandwagonning at his worst.
One good game where his inconsistent jumpshoot was on doesn't change the fact that he has had, so far, a quite bad season.
It way too soon to judge if Scola will be or not a good nab player, I said it after all his average to bad game and I said it again after his good game.

Scola played yesterday like S.Smith played at Portland on november of 2001, when he scored 36pts and made 8 3PTs. He wanted to show thwm what he can do, Scola did the same yesterday.

Smith sucks the rest of the season. What will happen to Scola?

I don't think he'll be like yesterday in all games but I think he'll be a good role player

thats what i was thinking too.. and why dont we just propose an official Scola Forum? Before i logged on i had a feeling the top thread was gonna be about scola, and sure enough.. maybe a joint beno/scola forum would be better..

Dude,If the guy can play this good and with the confidence he is playing right now, in his 8TH NBA game, I don't wanna know how good he's gonna be after the all star break.
there are things that you eather have them or not in sports, specially in basketball.
like: BBIQ ,Fundamentals, and a good mid range jumper. And he's got them.

What about the other 7 games he's sucked?

Scola is extremely polished, and the league doesn't know his skill set...he should have been doing this from out of the gate...the fact that he wasn't should be alarming...And in the immortal words of RC Buford...where was the rebounding?
Living in Houston area I get to see most of the Rocket games. In the first few games it seemed like his teammates were playing 'freeze out' with LS even when he was wide open. May have been just a natural reaction when they've got a new guy on the court that hasn't earned thier confidence.

I think he'll make a good addition to Houston. Like Oberto, a smart player about positioning himself on the court on both offense and defense, but probably more willing to take the shot when presented.

that's right,He is a better version of Fabri, with a better mid range jumper too.

No, Fabricio's skill set as a defender at the center make him entirely different (and much more desirable) compared to Scola. Get out of your man-crush on Scola.

Not a man crush dude,I'm just being objetive and not a blind homer.
And I've been saying this from way before Scola got traded to the Rockets.

Oh, I don't think you're being objective at all. See other thread as to reasons why.

That's exactly what I thought after I saw a full Euroleague game with Scola in it (the one where he set the record for most career points in euroleague?). And it further confirmed in my mind that the Front Office knows what they are doing. It really was no coincidence that they immediately went to Oberto after Scola didn't work out that year...he fit right into the role they were hoping Scola would fill. Sure he's more athletic, probably more talented, more polished offensively, whatever.

But let's not forget...Oberto had an 11 for 11 (?) game last year.
    ARE YOU KIDDING?

Oberto´s 11-11 game was 9-9 in Layups and 2-2 in closer Jump Shots
This was a 10-11, and the layup were Up and unders and great moves, and at least 7 +15 foot Jump Shots

How do you play when Tmac is hogging the ball all the time ???
Yep, I think they play better without Tmac. They could probably use him in the last minute though.
