Except for Leandro Barbosa was never intended to be on the Spurs, just like John Salmons.

ing about trading them away is pointless.

Just having fun. I wouldn't waste any serious time ing about any of them. What's done is done. Salmons was a project, and it's pretty remarkable that he's come this far. And even if a lot of people have forgotten, when SJax was here, there were plenty of articles and posts talking about how he lost as many games as he won. The Scola story has been beaten completely to death. And Hedo is really, really good - except when he isn't.

The only one I really regret is Barbosa. The Spurs knew how fast he was, and that he had decent PG skills. I know they got a protected future first round pick for him, but I always got the impression that they would have liked to keep him. Did they owe that trade to Phoenix for something? I know that Alex Garcia was supposed to be at least as fast, and he was waiting in the wings - but the injury really prevented him from having a serious chance.

Anyway, the lineup is impressive. But if you tried to make a starting lineup out of them, you would probably get a good draft pick the next year.

he is a fa next year
6 years 36 million spurs refused to match the magic offer... that was 2004
It would have been tough to have the big 3, and Hedo, and still fill out a roster with Hedo earning $6M per season.

I'll admit, I was impressed with Hedo last night. Game seven, on the road, and he came to play. Where did this guy come from?

    Hedo's not a tough-minded guy, but he's grown and improved a of a lot since 03/04.

In Jameer's absence, he often brings the ball across mid-court and initiates the offense, 6ft 10in PG!

Yep...I would take him back, but with a paycut.
I love and really miss Hedo.

However, I hope he does not come back here. I don't think the Spurs are a good fit for Hedo and I would prefer Hedo be where he will excel.

    Bad timing.

In the summer of 2004, the Spurs had Tim on a max deal and Malik and Rasho in the middle of 42M deals. That summer they signed Manu to his 52M deal and Tony to his 66M deal. There was no way to match the 38M deal Hedo got from the Magic.

That was 324M in contract commitments made from the summer of 2002 to the summer of 2004. Not too shabby for a cheap team. (this remark has nothing to do with your post, ducks. I just never realized how much money the Spurs laid out in those three summers)

Spurs spent the money on Brent Barry instead that summer.

Actually, Hedo is the long 3 the Spurs needed, found, and then let go.

Hedo was only 24 years old when he played for the Spurs. People never quite got that.

I think Pop just destroyed TurkeyGlue's confidence. Pop didn't allow him to make any mistakes and he is streaky player.

I bet Taruky is masterbating to a TurkeyGlue bobblehead doll as I type this.

I was amazed at how relaxed he was in crunch time, smiling and smiling, coming out of time outs. Maybe JVG is quite the comedian?

When all is said & done Hedo Turkoglu will be remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA…He is clearly the best player in the Orlando/Cavs series…

Hedo was never going to excel with the Spurs. The Spurs offense runs heavily through either Timmy, Tony or Manu. When its running like a well oiled machine, it runs through all 3 evenly. Hedo is at his best initiating the play and with the ball in his hands as he is a very good ballhandler and passer. As good as he may be now, he would never have gotten the chance to be the same type of player he is at the Magic and due to the options the Spurs have, that was the right decision.

As a stand still shooter, he sucked balls for the Spurs when it mattered and that was all he ever would be with the Spurs... a stand still shooter.

I like him now though, he is a very unique player and its amazing to see someone perform consistently well in pressure situations after sucking so hard just a few years earlier.
