It's also a matter of how much you can draw.
    Mark Bocek vs Douglas Evans

Could have been any countless number of other match ups. They have to put their time in on the lower end of a card. But in MMA you can climb that ladder sooooo fast.

Right. Rampage had little to no draw in his first fight, but has a solid following now. And if he keeps winning, he'll be the biggest draw the UFC has.

If for you to bring it win or lose and you will get paid. Its why we keep seeing people like Jorge Gurgel and Clay Guida on cards.

GSP is fastly becoming the most popular guy in the sport i feel. If he beats Serra and goes on a run as WW champ he is going to be HUGE!!!

GSP will always have a good following, but people like Griffin and Rampage -- who have huge personalities -- go alot further with the fans. As well, they aren't French-Canadian

    agree!

I wish they would get knees to the head going in the US. Supposedly they are just having to get it pushed in NJ.Nevada and Cali are fine with them.

I saw that earlier. Cane should have known better though, it's not like it's the first time he has fought under these rules. BUT, it looks as though Irvin got away with a little something..

I'm going to speak my piece that probably won't win me any friends.

I was disappointed in Chuck in the third round. Silva was tottering right at the edge of being knocked out - and instead of taking the risk of being hit and going for it, Chuck went for the easy decision win. It was the smart move, of course, but it didn't win him any respect from me.

Did anybody else happen to notice the piece of Sokoudjou's weave that fell out onto the floor during his fight?

Before i read any more of this thread, i will say i agree with you 100%. That annoyed the out of me when he did that. Silva was 70% knocked out and chuck backed off like a panzy affraid to put it out there...

Also i loved the fact that guillard got his ass kicked...i cant stand that punk...even though i thought his body punch tko was pretty sweet, he is trash.

It sure looked like Irvin was acting and the kick didn't look that bad. They said he got a knee in the eye socket, but he was acting like he was KO'd.

All 12 fighters test negative for UFC 79...

The Nevada State Athletic Commission tested 12 of the 20 fighters who competed at last month’s UFC 79 event, and all of the compe ors tested negative for drugs of abuse, as well as performance-enhancing drugs.

UFC 79, which aired live on pay-per-view, took place Dec. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Georges St. Pierre defeated Matt Hughes in the night’s main event to earn the UFC’s interim welterweight le.

Both of the headliners were tested by the NSAC, as were Mark Bocek, Rich Clementi, Manny Gamburyan, Melvin Guillard, Chuck Liddell, Dean Lister, Lyoto Machida, Jordan Radev, Wanderlei Silva and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

You know it is funny listening to GSP in his pre-fight saying how he was "More powerful than ever" than seeing him look in better shape than ever and destroy Hughes so easily, i actually was a little worried he might have been on something extra. Maybe it was a dumb thought on my part, but it is nice to see he was clean.

Yeah i wish it wasn't either, that is the problem today everyone is suspected of cheating so you feel like nobody is above it.
