<--- SO glad he didn't drop 180 bux on LP this year
hahahahahhahahahahahahaha
Very good perspective from you SoutherFried.Several of us veteran obsevers here can really relate to those dark days you've described. Reading your post does make one ponder the internal question of "What the am I getting so upset about?" Our senses have dulled the fact that there were many times, as you've stated, where a superior regular season only meant collossal playoff failure and pain. The Mavs and their fans know this all too well.
Now we have the good fortune of knowing our boys are the BIG DOGS on the block. Fighting off the yearly challenges from one team then the next. Each year the East has presented a new challenger to the Spurs championship throne. There is perennial le talk and real championship-level consideration virtually every year - not to mention the 4 les already in the hip pocket.
I guess my frustration, albeit a small one, is that there is nothing on the bench - outside or Manu (which is a of a lot and I really consider him a starter) - to get me excited about. Every young, hungry player who gets a shot (Washington or Johnson), seemingly gets cut. Personally, I love seeing the hunger, enthusiasm and drive from a young player who's trying to make his mark and make the most out of his limited minutes. I realize the Spurs are playing for les. However on nights where the veterans are seemingly disinterested, unmotivated or simply can't get it together, a couple of young, hungry bodies, with fresh legs, who are playing out-of-their-minds is usually a good antidote.
Obviously, I'm still motivated by the "drive for five" and will be for the duration of this season. At the same time, I'm already wondering what this roster will look like next year? Who will be the replacement players? Who will retire, etc.? Who will be added? I know all of this is blasphemous to even suggest. I guess the grind of a NBA long season is partially to blame for my wonderlust.

This is why I did not get League Pass this year. The regular season Spurs just piss me off.
Same here...the regular season can be a lot of fun, but there's no reason to care about it any more than the Spurs do (which is very little).
I suckered myself into it. I really don't mind it at all. I'd rather watch the Spurs than any of the local (Dallas) or national offerings. I can't stand watching the Mavs.
Nor do I enjoy watching the Suns. But, it is kinda funny how many times they and the Lakers have been on national TV this season.
put it on 245 and you'll understand.
same here. i had it last year and i actually watched all 82 games and i was a basket case.
i feel a lot better about the spurs without it this year but i may end up buying it after the all star break when we start to peak.
same...I'm counting on one of those late-season discounts to pop up.
You guys should try being Cubs fans sometime. I swear I have a hole in my heart from the pain.
