I don't understand why Houston would trade two quality players to a Western conference power....let alone one in the SAME division??!?!?

spurs will lose all the support when they get to the nba finals. .All the other fans don't want spurs in the nba finals. You know why look at the spurs rating in the nba final.
    1999 11.3
    2003 6.5
    2005 8.2
2007 6.2 well rockets did good in that department with
    1994 12.4
    1995 13.9 nba rating
    go rockets
They want a better team in the nba final like detroit or La lakers not the spurs.Because they put people to and they are boring to root for.

Hey, we figured we took in all the Katrina folks so we might as well keep giving to the city of New Orleans!!!!

But in all seriousness, the team felt backup PG was a bigger need than backup SG/SF. We were using Brooks as the backup PG and you never really want to rely on a rookie on the playoffs. The play of Novak/Head/Landry made Wells a little more expendable...even though Wells is clearly better than all of them. Jackson knows the system and has a nice expiring next season as well.

This was purely a salary dump by the owner. The trade makes some sense but I think it was a mistake mainly because I feel Jackson has nothing left. Oh, and that aspect about giving a division rival a position of need...but you guys should know all about that (Scola).

chronicle suggests rox could waive a player and make a move for m.miller or some and still be under the lux tax...
    chron mentioned no names though.

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5557996.html
With the deal, the Rockets will move under the luxury tax and might have an opportunity to make another roster move. Also with the deal, they move their player salaries under the luxury tax threshold of $67.865 million by enough that if there is a player available they would want to add, they could release a player to create a roster spot and sign a free agent to a pro-rated salary for the rest of the season without incurring a luxury tax penalty.

    splash
    chron was right

Would the Rockets have enough money for Marion? He'd work in Adelman's system if they could afford him.

This trade is actually not that bad for us. while I hate to see Bonzi go I am glad we got rid of Mike James. Mike is not a team player which is why he played for seven teams in seven NBA seasons. It is also why a rookie was able to beat him out for the backup point spot. As for Bonzi I will miss his rebounding and toughness, but we needed shooters who can hit open shots which is something Bonzi struggled with. He was also a defensive liability and a horrible free throw shooter. If Bobby Jackson gets the open looks that Rafer does I expect our scoring to go up. He won't have much of an adjustment to make because he already knows the offense as well. I just hate the part about helping the ING HORNETS to get him!!!! Plus we got Gerald Green out of it so it seems like a win win for us to me( I hope).

Gerald Green won't pay dividends now or anytime soon. He's still very much a project.

I'm waiting for Francis to return. Green is gonna be a project but he does have freaky athletic skills and came to the NBA straight out of high school. Could be another freaky good player in a year or two.

We need every player to be able to shoot the rock because we need to make the other teams pay the price when they double team Yao.
Last time i check, Marion cant shoot, especially under an half-court offense.

that's how our GM was looking at the trade. just wanted to move snyder and ended up getting a decent project in return. he said green probably wouldn't be suited up much this year and felt that he could learn a lot from the coaching staff. green also said he was excited to be back in houston.

Houston have done these trades with as main goal to do under the luxury tax.
They have done a quite good job at it even if the loss of Bonzi will hurt them a little.
Houston was a better team one week ago.
