    Not according to the Chump
Louis, even an idiot like you should know it's waived by Mar 1, not signed by Mar 1.

Playoff rosters are not set on March 1.
When does he have to be signed by to be able to be on our playoff roster?

Later than March 1. Much later. Barry would be able to be on the Spurs playoff roster if he signed after 30 days.

    Really.

This guy right here.....I can honestly say these guys dont like each other....They respect each other but dont like each other.....other than that im pretty much 100% sure "Bones" will be in Silver and Black this post season.....He doesnt want to go to the strugling Celtics (lost last 3 games)...or the struggling Phoenix (lost last 2 of 3 games, especially today by 30+ points) or the Rockets ( who have yet to get past the first round with TMAC)

Ol Popvich will be the ONLY reason why he wouldnt come back....hes a backstabber and a sneak......but a great coach though....its a love/hate thing.....
He's actually a businessman first. Say what you want to, the move was made to better the team. And better we are. Brent might come back, or he might not. How many championships does a man want anyway?

The last time I read anything about playoff rosters, the deadline was April 20 -- but that was at least one rule change ago.

Can Brent even be on our playoff roster, since he has to wait 30 days to sign, and playoff rosters are supposed to be set on March 1st??? What am I missing?
Players waived after March 1 can't be on playoff rosters. Since Brent was waived like Feb 20-whateverth, he's good to go for playoffs.

...and the Spurs notify players that they may be traded if they are indeed part of serious trade talks. Not all teams do that.

I'm not about to guess which troll regular this thread was started by.

If he wants to win it'll be with the Rockets 11-0 baby!! Can't wait for the next Spurs-Rockets game. Cause then we'll go ahead 3-1 in head to head play LOL

How could he possibly refuse the "maximum two year offer"?

Barry is eligible to be on a playoff roster because he was waived before March 1st. Playoff rosters are finalized on April 17th this year.

Supposedly the Mavs want Barry too, but I'm sure he'll be back in San Antonio.

They were saying on today's ABC broadcast that Brent Barry said he would like to have made a decision by Tuesday so we shall see...

It's down to Houston, SA, Boston, and Pheonix.

Yeah, if he wants to win regular season games in February and not make the 2nd round in the postseason Houston is his best bet.

Pop is not a backstabber...he makes no secret of the fact that he's a company man and the team comes first.

For him to be a backstabber he would have told Barry that Barry wouldn't be traded and would get minutes...Pop never makes promises like that.

    He's not a backstabber...

His approach to FA is...covet first, figure out of it works later. Because that's good for the team. Although we do wind up with a quite a few players he doesn't like because of that...and I don't know that's always good for the team.

What he is though is a defensive elitist and offensive player abuser...and he does overdo it with the emphasis on defense at times...don't get me wrong, his devotion to D is why the Spurs play great day, it's a big reason why we've won these les...but I've also seen him get owned by his refusal to acknowledge that some times offenseive players are needed...no matter how poor their D.

Pop doesn't like this because...if he lets one guy on the court without playing D...then it becomes harder to motivate other players to do it....his message is basically, if you don't or can't play D...you are going to have a hard time getting on the court. I have seen situations where this mindset has hurt the Spurs before....it's also lead to some players playing worse.

I think if he was just a little more clear with why he's pulling guys and not letting them on the court a lot of them wouldn't get confused...I mean I hear a lot of guys outside of the core players that often are confused by some of what he does and why they're in his doghouse. I think he could at least work on communicating that a little bit better...we might end up getting better value for some of players that way, and they might end up doing better when they do get ont he court for us...instead of getting worse and worse(as some of them have).

But as it is...when he's disgusted with them, they are pretty much done in his rotation and he kills their trade value....and kills their confidence in their ability to help this team.

I believe it was defined in the latest CBA as playoff rosters have to be set by the close of business on the day after the regular season ends.

other stuff I understand is playoff roaster will be trimmed (not suited to play) to some number that would require trimming from the regular season roaster. It might play in Barry's mind where as in other teams he will not have this problem. Last year it was Ely and Butler even though they collected the rings. Only sure person that I can think of this season is Matt Bonner.

Backstabber seems way extreme. More likely, Barry is considering how much playing time he expects to get if he comes back knowing that Finley will probably be ahead of him in the rotation.

Also, the issue of his injury has never been updated. I'm curious how well he's recovered.

I wouldn't call Pop a backstabber either - the Bob Hill situation notwithstanding. He IS one of the best coaches of his generation. Of course, Tim Duncan could make ME a good coach too. But Pop and D-Rob, deserve as much credit as anyone for building this dynasty and setting forth the organizational principles that are still in place today.

That said, Pop can be a stubborn ol' cuss.

As long as you do not play for another NBA team after March 1, you are fine. You can come from somewhere else, come out of retirement, whatever you want, you just can not play for another NBA team after March 1 to be eligible to join a team for the play-offs by the end of the regular season. In 1999 because of the strike, the NBA season ran later than usual. Rasho managed to finish out his season in Europe and still join the T-Wolves for the last couple of regular season games and play in the NBA play-offs so you can play for another team- just not an NBA team.
