Since Lorenzen Wright and Darko Milicic are listed as centers, and Pau is not, I'm not sure where you are getting that idea. Pau has been on the all-star ballot as a forward his entire career. Since the Lakers are even thinner at center than the Grizzlies were, he's playing out of position until they get healthy.
