Way to bail. Look, a blimp!
Bail on what? Taking your noexistent C note? Davis is as bad as you think Elliott is and it's not surprising that you believe otherwise.

Yes Elliot got carried away but he's not an embarrasment. If you want Walter Cronkite go listen to the Boston crew.

I don't recall exactly when it happened, it had to be in December or January of last season, when I was changing channels on League Pass. This was after a Spurs loss earlier in the same evening, and I wanted to see how our divisional rivlas were doing (Rockets and Mavericks) Well, I found the channel that was airing the Mavs game and decide to tune in for a little while. They happened to be up big around the 2nd or 3rd, when the play-by-play guy says, "I've got some good news for you Maverick fans tonight. San Antonio just lost earlier and we'll pull (such and such) amount of games further ahead of them." The color guy responds, "Well, that is great news." (They have themselves a nice chuckle.)

If that isn't an example of unprofessional and "homerish" comments by a local broadcasting team I don't know what is.

The Wizards have the best broadcast team, although the feed usual sucks, in Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier in the entire league.

Longtime Celts fan here, not to troll your board, though. ... i live away from Boston, my hometown, and watch the Celts on League Pass. ... Tonight I got the Spurs broadcast. ... Just wanna say how pissed off my son and I got hearing the unprofessional Sean Elliott (I think that was him doing the color) declare the game OVER with the Spurs up by 17 in the first quarter. ... ".

Well, considering Ray Allen was out, and how the game was being played (at that moment) who DIDN'T think the SPurs would win.

    Congrats to Celtics.

Here's to Detoit, spankin that ass in the ECF.

90% of the teams have homer announcers, big deal. I'll care when nationally broadcast games have homer announcers (ABC/ESPN...). Oh wait...

Well I like Elliott, and I'm glad he is commenting on Spurs games instead of ABC games or TNT games. You listened to him for one game. Get over it.

That's the reason Elliott got kicked out of ESPN.

He is prolly the worst commentator in sports.
He didn't get fired. He left on his own accord because he didn't want to travel as much as he had to with them.

And the last time I checked, ESPN just said that they didn't renew his contract. make your own conclusions.

Look, I'm sorry, but I'm on the minority side here. Elliott needs a good talking to. He's simply not being very professional, calling games before they're over. I remember him doing the same last year in Orlando, in the 3rd quarter, when he put a "check" in the Orlando box with his telestrator pen when they ran a graphic showing that month's slate of upcoming games. The Spurs had like a 10 point lead in the 3rd quarter and Elliott marked the game off as a win.

I remember after they lost that for the next few games Elliott was markedly more reserved, so I thought maybe Pop or somebody read him the riot act about it, but maybe not.

It's very disappointing and I sincerely hope that this game will teach him to never do that again. He looks like an ass and by reflection so does the team.

"The Spur are going to win this game," he announced when the run got white hot. ... Does he always get this foolishly carried away? ... You never declare an NBA game over in the first quarter! ... Elliott oughta be as embarrassed as the Spurs tonight. ... Eventually the Celts fell behind by 22 and had nothing to really play for but pride, and yet still came back. ... Elliott never referred to his dumb prediction or conceded he was wrong. ... The guy is ridiculous and someone should tell him to calm down.

Sorry but Tommy Heinson is the worst homer announcer in the league..hands down.

I love Sean Elliott, and I'd rather listen to him than any other LeBron/Kobe/Wade/Whateverotherflavorofthemonth fellatiator any day. Like I really give a if a Celtic or Maverick fan likes him.

this is what you get, homer callers for home teams...

this is why they should rotate the commentators to different games

ROFL. So yeah, Elliott got excited. And? He cares whether this team wins or losses so he is prone to get excited in good times and pissed when things aren't going good.

And while he's pretty much par in the homerism category compared to most color commentators around the league, he does rip on the guys when necessary. How many times has he gotten on Tim for not taking it up strong? How many times has he been pissed at Parker for not pushing the break?

Overall, he's far, far, far and away the best color commentator I've heard in Spurs history. He' a homer but he's also a Spurs fan, so that's not a huge shock. Put any Spurs fan in that chair and they are going to err on the side of homer. However, he eats with the coaches on road trips and he's still friendly with the players so the insight you get from him is first hand information.

Elliott and Bill Land is my favorite combination of all-time. I hope the Spurs keep this broadcasting duo for a long time because the Spurs broadcasts this year have been the best in the 20+ years I've been watching Spurs games.
I couldn't agree more. He always rips on the team for not pushing it. I always hear him giving credit to opposing teams.

How can you talk when you have the BIGGEST homer in the game with Tommy Heinsohn. I mean really, how can you talk.
aint that the truth...while i dont care for sean, Elliot is no Heinsohn. for that matter Elliot isnt even on Eddie Johnson's level. now that guy is a homer to the fullest and he actually believes the crap he says. in tommy h. case, i think its more of being old and not sure whats going on.

i actually liked sean when he was with ESPN but as soon as he got with the spurs, serious homer kicked in

Not only does he rip on the Spurs for playing poorly, he also spends a great deal of time praising opponents. No matter who the Spurs are playing or what the score, Sean Elliott always talks the opponents up. ("An incredibly gifted player, a fantastic move, a world of talent", etc...) sometimes he spends so much time talking about how good the opponent is I want him to shut up and talk more about the Spurs.
Leave it to a Bostonian to come on a Spurs board and insult the Spurs announcers after the Spurs just lost to the Celtics. off dude. Sean Elliott is a ing legend and you can eat .
