You guys are just now questioning Popovich's dumbass rotation pattern?

Cmon, after the last 2 years shouldn't you guys should be expecting this kind of stuff by now? I remember the old dip excuse when Popovich didn't play his big guys was because they didn't understand the defensive rotations or some dumb like that. I guess we can add Kurt Thomas to the list.

Kurt Thomas is allegedly a player Pop has wanted on this team for a long time, having tried to trade for him multiple times. He was aquired this year as a direct response to the Suns aquiring Shaq...aquired at the cost of a number one pick...

And then he gets ing less minutes against the Suns that freaking 3rd string pick up vet min could have been signed by any team in the NBA, Jacque ing Vaughn.

No...Kurt Thomas is Pop's guy...Pop has no excuse for this ....other than outright stupidity.

It was so obvious Duncan couldn't handle Shaq(and never has been able to if you want to be blunt about it)...and Pop just let it keep going...I guess to get Duncan to foul out of the game LIKE A ING IDIOT or something and Duncan was too stupid to notice.

Seriously...this is beyond a simple case of Pop's screwy rotations...Kurt Thomas is his ing guy..a guy he's wanted for a long time...a guy we gave up a number one pick for...

There is no excusing this bull ...

I want to stick smallball up Pop's ing ass.

Kurt Thomas does something on Shaq that Oberto can't.

    Hang in the post.

When shaq cuts across the lane Kurt can bring the hand down and knock the ball away.

Also he blocks Shaq out pretty decently on rebounding.

Not playing Thomas on Shaq in that part of the game was just stupidity.

I place all the blame of this loss squarely on the shoulders of
    Duncan, Pop, and Ginobili.

I'm not all that concerned about Duncan's defense on Shaq. Shaq made shots and got into positions that I doubt Thomas would have been able to prevent either in single coverage.

What was frustrating was watching Duncan brick easy shots at the other end because he was scared.

Yeah Duncan played like an absolute .

    Ginobili too.

But Duncan is the ing chise.

His play in that second half against Diaw and Shaq was ing disgusting.

    I can't let this go.

We tried to FRONT Shaquille O'neal with Fabricio Oberto.

Only the consistently worst ing entry passes ever would make that an effective strategy.

Fabs had no business in this game. .

First off, yes the move to keep KT on the bench during Shaq's low post sequence was dumb. But let's get real here. Shaq scored 3 jump hooks and a free throw. Not exactly a game-ending run. Our offense sucked ass. We scored, what, 9 points in the entire 4th quarter?

Let's get something straight. Phoenix in general is not a great defensive team. Teams still beat the Suns by pick-n-rolling Shaq/Amare and Nash to death, as they are both poor defenders. Ever seen CP3 West and Chandler operate against Phoenix?

Our offense is predictable and sucks hind . NBA teams play zone D as a surprise tactic, they don't use it consistently because ball and player movement can break the zone down, not to speak of the offensive rebounds. We couldn't do against the zone for nearly 2 quarters. Zilch. Pop didn't have a play to break it. That's where we lost. We play 4-down, Tony penetration and Manu penetration. The occassional Finley pull-up. That's Pop's playbook most of the time.

If a dumbass like D'Antoni can figure this out you better believe Phil Jackson, Byron Scott and Jerry Sloan can too

    I'm sorry...

    But let's get something straight...

We gave up a mother ing number one pick for a bigman that just got less ing minutes against the Suns(and Shaq) then Jacque ing Vaughn...

Don't excuse that ...don't even try to excuse it.

I'm not excusing anything. I agree it was a stupid move. But having Thomas in there doesn't guarantee that Shaq doesn't score. Shaq could well have made those jump hooks with Thomas on him.

But us putting up these 11 point quarters on the worst screen-and-roll defense in the league was the real story here. I don't care how well Thomas defends Shaq, to beat the Suns by scoring 11 in a quarter is not happening. We have bigger problems than Kurt Thomas' playing time

The Spurs did a poor job of putting pressure on the guy lobbing the pass into Shaq, as well.

    Um...Thomas could have fouled him...

Wrong...Shaq kicked our ass in that stretch with Amare and Nash on the bench, that has never happened before against the Suns

Not only did it make us look like a bunch of punks...it fired the Suns up like nothing ever has against us.

If it was "CIA" Pop's idea to give the Suns belief they can beat us...he succeeded, in spades. They won't even need to get on the jet to fly home.

That Shaq improved their half court defense is not something that can be overcome...it's also something that was obvious to myself the second the trade was made..

He's 7'1, 300+lbs, and he knocks the out of people...it matters.

And anyone that thinks players are pussies for that....feel free to get your ass out there and get the knocked out of you by Shaq.

You don't know what pussy is...

And I don't give a damn who you put out there, he's going to be problem like that, whether he's trying hard or not.

But you could at least put another big other than Duncan on him when Amare and Nash are out of the game...to foul him, if nothing else, he is kind of a ty FT shooter you know...

You guys still are the reigning champions. Give the Suns some credit and move one.

Our offense killed us... we tried to play their style of play and it just didn't work in the second half...
Tim was being too soft on Shaq aswell... we didn't take advantage of that.

PS: our offense will improve when/if Barry and Horry get back...another no brainer...

I see nothing to indicate Pop's dumb infatuation with small ball is going to improve though.

While I agree that Oberto has been absolutely no help on Shaq the past two games we've played against them, Kurt Thomas hasn't exactly been a big help either I don't think in those games...

Well, outside of the Big 3, the Spurs "offensive weapons" include a streaky Michael Finley, Bruce Bowen Corner 3's, a streaky Ime Udoka, and Jacque Frickin Vaughn.

Those are your next 4 scoring options. That's just plain scary.

I'm not sure about that...at all, hence the when/if comment...

If they dont' come back we won't win the le this year...

But their absence is why our offense sucks and no power on earth is going to make Vaughn or Udoka offensive players of their caliber, nor Finley a better passer....

IOW, I understand why our offense sucks...and no one can be blamed for that except the injury bug, nor will anything fix it other than they getting healthy...

Pop's IGNORANT subs utions are another thing entirely though...

Whottt, you honestly think that if we had Barry and Horry the Spurs would have won the game tonight?

What'd you think? That Barry and Horry would give some of their toughness to Duncan?
Or did you think that they'd be able to stop Amare and Shaq from totally dominating the paint?
Or did you think they'd be able to contain Steve Nash's dribble penetrations and pick and rolls?
Or that they'd be able to stay in front of Barbosa and defend him?

You're seriously overvaluing those two players, at this point in their careers and what they can bring. Spurs would obviously be a better team with them, but I don't think they'll solve all the problems and holes the Spurs obviously have in their game this season.

And BTW...we don't need a bandwaggoner whose team hasn't won a le since the last century telling us how to be fans...

Kindly take your advice, stick it clean up your own ass...and take it back to Boston where someone gives a what Celt fan has to say.
And go dunk your head in some chowder after that.

And then tell your football team to stop cheating....

And stop goin 18-0 before choking in the Superbowl...

Seriously...when we need your advice...we'll call ya.

If the Spurs go 90 years and still haven't won a le...you'll be the first one we call when we want to know how to deal with that. We promise.
