How about they lost game 3 because they got outplayed?
There is no disagreement here. The Hornets were out played in game 3. Read my response above.

My original comment was regarding the frustration level after the loss. Your comment
The Hornets dont know what is like to have a ton of pressure on you. They'll crack under it.
simply does not apply to that game. Were there other games they were outplayed this year? sure but the key is how you react to it.

Here read what was said after that game yourself
    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...r.4118054.html

My discussion is NOT why they lost game 3. Make any sense?

What are you even talking about? The Hornets are y? They seem to be humble to me.

Anyway, your post doesn't even make sense.
You say you "hate" that they are y. But you "love" that they think they as good as the Spurs.
    Bad thread.

i just don't like when a team is y when they have yet to do anything more than win one playoff series.

at the same time, i love that they think they are just as good as the spurs, yet, again, they have not proved anything yet - they are so young that they don't realize that that regular season doesn't matter:

    http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93933
Tyson Chandler struggled with the idea that New Orleans could be favored in its second-round series against the defending champion San Antonio Spurs, even if the Hornets are the higher seed and have home-court advantage.

"I don't know if many players on this team consider themselves underdogs, but for some reason that's what we've been labeled as," Chandler said. "We're always going to be underdogs and we don't mind that. But people come around, it seems, when you start winning, so hopefully we can win some and get people to come around a little bit."

I thought that after beating the crap out of the Suns people would learn that regular season games mean when it comes to the Spurs.

I haven't paid enough attention to the Hornets to get that iness vibe, (or humbleness vibe) but from the few post games, interviews, I think you could say at times they have gotten overconfident.
But they're young, winning convincingly and that's expected, (even the Spurs have gotten overconfident at times in their team career.)

Overconfidence isn't really the same as y.

I will say CP3 is more emotional, and he did display some game iness in the Mavs series. Also watching them on court against the Mavs, they seem to be young and a little annoying, but it's their first year in the playoffs so whatever.

    here - let me rephrase.

i can't stand when a team starts dreaming delusions cause they've WON ONE FREAKING PLAYOFF SERIES.

however, deep down inside i like that they think they're just as good as us, so that we can show them what playing in the WCF is really like.

    make sense?

    Gotcha.

But every team is going to think, convince themselves that they're better than their opponent, (except for maybe the Mavs)

    Not really.

It wouldn't make any sense for the Hornets to NOT think they could win against the Spurs. They have to believe in themselves.

And I still haven't seen any y comments from them. But whatever ...

    Definitely not thread worthy.

true, but i think this can also be directed to their fans.

i understand it coming from laker/mav/sun fans - they've been somewhere, done something.

    but hornet fans?
y'all keep on saying 'we've only been together three years' - yeah, ok - well once y'all have done something, then that's when you have room to talk.

    kori, i apologize.
i was just using this thread to vent my frustration - i've been a spurs fan ever since jordan left chicago (i wasn't a band wagoner - i was born there, and all that - but then i moved here during the second three-peat, and after he left, i started pulling for the home team, the spurs), and i know that we don't get a lot of respect from the national media and what not, but i still wish fans would give us a little bit more respect, considering we're going for our fifth le in 10 years - i mean, how many fans can really say that? in ANY sport?

its not wrong to have confidence, just don't be overconfident, young hornet fans.

First of all, what are these "delusions" that you are talking about? Quote one of them. I'm willing to bet you can't, because they only exist in your head.

As CP3 just said, "the regular season series might have been 2-2, but right now its 0-0. If you go into a series thinking you're going to lose, you're already defeated."

Also, what does "having done something" in the past few years or ever have to do with anything? This year is the only one that matters. The Hornets beat the Spurs twice by more than twenty and won the division you're in, I would say that's "doing something".

If I was going to place money on this series, it would be on the Spurs. I think we have a really good shot, but I'm not totally confident. I can be intellectually honest. Can you be? Doubtful, as your act has worn thin.

[QUOTE=rwb;2456902]Actually, the only thing I've heard from the New Orleans organization so far has been nothing but respect for the Spurs. Of course they're going to say they can beat us...that'd be kind of weird if they didn't. Expecting to go into the series to get their asses kicked and sharing it with the world would be kind of defeatist, don't you think?

I expect a good, relatively clean series. The Hornets have admitted they're trying to emulate the Spurs because selflessness, teamwork and keeping their cool wins championships. They probably feel like if they can beat the Spurs, they can beat anyone, and I don't see them rolling over and giving up like the Mavs and the Nuggets did. That's why the Celtics can't go all the way. Seriously, they have to go to a 7th game in the First Round against the Hawks? That ought to take out a serious chunk of their confidence, and Paul Pierce's body language after he fouled out last night spoke volumes.

I think the Hornets will use this playoff series against the Spurs as a learning opportunity for next year. You can't tell me Lebron's experience in 2007 isn't helping him right now. Chris Paul will do the same and will only get better. I'll be shocked if NO can knock off the Spurs, even with home court advantage. But I'd rather be beaten by a young team who respects their opponent than a bunch of publicity-hungry, chest-thumping, media darling major market players that will only be good for ratings, not for people who love to see a great-played series.
    [/QUO

The 2 teams in the league with the fewest fouls, Technicals and ejections are playing in this series. We have nothing but respect for ya'll with the record you have ac ulated the last 10 years. It would be like the respect you would have if UT was playing LSU in football...lol

Like winning a series 4-1 and embarrassing a team so badly that they fire their coach the next day, even though the coach has one of the highest first 4 years winning percentage of any coach ever?

    yeah.
    i'm sorry.
i totally forgot about that series.

y'all fans have all the fire you need and all the reason to be so confident, cause you beat one team.

my apologies again, and good luck in this series.

Dude, they damn near got the best record in the West, so ya they should be confident. They swept Phoenix and split the series with the Spurs. They're good.

ask the mavericks, warriors, celtics, and hawks if the best record in the conference, nba, or even top 10 in history matters in the playoffs.

They went 4-1 just like you guys did the first round... And their record came in a stronger western conference that what the Mavs dealt with last year.

Just as you should put regular season comparisons out of your mind.....

It seems that every year the Spurs need to indoctrinate a team to what it's like to play at this level. They play at a higher level in the playoffs. I guarantee they aren't the same team the Hornets played during the regular season.

The Hornets are about to be given a lesson in humility by the Champs. Spurs in 6
You know your right. There is nothing at all like this game when our two teams met in regular season. And we are much more humble tonight. Props
