Spurs shot really well from outside in the first half.
Yeah we seem to do a decent job in every first half in NO, I'm talking about the game in general.

I think the Spurs are folding to themselves. Looking for calls that yes should be calls and fouls and not just a one sided affair and forgot they had to play defense and score the damn ball. The give up and bail on the whole attack plan and go soft.

    I agree with TPark.

My post from another thread ...

Tim was extremely disappointing to me today. Chandler got his second foul midway through the 1st quarter and went out. Tim should have feasted right then. He didn't. He put up weak shots around the rim and looked SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW. I know he got 20+ boards, blahblah. I don't care. This was his game to dominate the interior and he didn't do it.

Let me just say, I'm cutting out the rest and framing and sigging the top part

I'm sure we will hear Tim had some type of illness Jordan gets sick and puts up 40, the "greatest" PF of all-time gets sick and has an excuse.
Duncan/Pop didn't make an excuse for game 1/2 when Duncan actually was ill. So I doubt they'll make one up now.

    Jordan made up the sickenesses.

Once again though, your wanting Duncan to be Jordan.

Jordan was a player that will never be here again, EVER.

Stop with that comparison, cause its just not fair to Duncan.

Neither one of them made any excuses in their post game press conferences. They both gave credit to how NO played, and they both said the game got away from them in the 3rd, that they didn't play the way they needed to.

And they were both obviously pissed...

be sick after the seasons over. for the record, I thought Tim was ok tonight. I place the blame more on Manu and then Tony's poor 3rd quarter play.

Again what the did Manu do out there tonight??? Tony was 7/14 yet felt like he was invisible. The idea that Tim did not try his best is bull , complete and total bull .

no way 23 boards is pathetic. Spurs have won before when Duncan has played poorly on offense, but mainly because Manu and Tony go off. Today Manu gets a D- and Tony gets a C-.

Didn't say that was. That was ok, but doesn't mean if hes playing like Hedo Turkoglu on the offensive end.

Why was Tony so aggressive in games 3 and 4 and tonight it was nowhere?? So it is all about Pop and Tim with 4 downs and Tony gets a pass for barely even looking to get in the paint. I thought Tony was borderline awful tonight and he has been great overall in the series.

He drove the lane and got fouled more than once, did not get the call. He missed some shots he usually makes, it happens, the man is not a ing machine.

Tim has played poorly on offense before and the Spurs have still won big playoff games. No doubt we need him, but Tony and mostly Manu have got to pick it up on the road.

Tim played like offensively, but don't give me this bull about his effort. Tim is not a natural scorer. Never has been, never will be. His game is predicated mostly on timing and positioning because of his lack of explosiveness/athleticism. Tim needs easy buckets early to find a rythym and build his confidence, and if he doesn't get them it can sometimes snowball on him.

The Hornets deserve some credit for how they're playing Tim. Tim hasn't been able to find a rythym because he's not sure where his shots are going to come from. They actually doubled on the dribble instead of the catch more, which is probably the best way to defend Tim. You double him on the catch,he'll usually pick you apart like Brady. You double on the dribble, and he'll sometimes look like Favre on a bad day.

Did Tim play like ? Yes! Do I wish he'd play with less of a concious? yeah! Did he not try/bring it? no!

He's been the same guy for the last 11 years for better or worse. So if you're pissed about his play? I'm right there with you. Just don't give me this weak that he didn't come to play.

I agree with everything except the part about him not being a natural scorer. He's the best scoring big man in the league, he just doesn't have to show it most of the time thanks to the presence of Tony and Manu.

Tim's problem is that his once amazingly soft touch just completely leaves him periodically, at least in this season. I can't remember another season in which he struggled so much with his shot except for maybe the 06 season, but then he had PF and stepped up in a big way during the playoffs. I just don't see any confidence in him whatsoever.

Tim is the most complete big man in the league, but he's not a natural scorer. Being a natural scorer is about a mentality, and less about ability. Amare for example, isn't the player Tim is but when he catches the ball there's no hesitation. There's never a thought to think, "Is this a good shot?", or "Should I be taking this shot?" That's all I was saying.

If he would attack as soon as he gets the damn ball Chandler and West wouldv'e been in foul trouble all Fing night.

No, he decided to stand, wait, stand, take fall aways, run sideways and flop.
    /QUOTE]

yep. you speak the truth. if he would make a move as soon as he gets the ball i think he would fare better.
He needs to stop waiting for the double team to come. He used to do this a lot when he was younger. As he's gotten older he develop the art of making that good pass. It's almost like he reverted back to this bad habit all of a sudden.

Despite his rebounding, which was awesome, he still played like a vagina on the offensive end. Since we don't have another "rim-protector" on this team, it's up to Tim to do it all on both ends.

How does anyone figure Tony played better than Manu? Manu led the team in points and assists and kept the team in the game for a half. Tony played like crap and let Paul do whatever he wanted.

    Agree.

Tony plays much more aggressive at home in this series.
Lets hope he can adjust and bring his A game for game 6.

    There is no turning back.
