The Hornets were unstoppable offensively? The Lakers looked like it tonight coming from a 20-point deficit. Anyways, I wish the Spurs underestimate the Lakers like you do.

    Go away for christ sake.

Lakers are good but they aren't as good as the world makes them out to be. The Hornets were unstoppable offensively due in large part to bad matchups. The only time they didn't score against the Spurs was when they basically choked on an open shot.

The Spurs matchup fine against the Lakers. The Spurs should win this series. I was more concerned about the Hornets, honestly. But does that mean the Spurs are going to beat the Lakers? No. The Lakers can beat the Spurs, especially with the best coach of all-time on the sidelines. If Pop rolls over and dies like he did tonight, the Spurs can easily lose this series.

But matchups wise and talent wise, the Lakers aren't as difficult as either the Suns or the Hornets were. This would just be a massive choke job if the Spurs end up losing ... starting with Pop.
See, I disagree. The bench is the biggest mismatch against the Lakers. That was pretty evident tonight when the bench was basically the only thing keeping the Lakers in the game. Spurs bench is especially old and weak compared to them. Suns as we all know had a bench 2 man deep. Hornets bench consisted of Pargo and....well no one. That's why guys like Udoka, Horry, etc were able to capitalize against them.

Lakers also have the size and length to bother Ginobili and Parker, something the Hornets and Suns didn't really have either.

And the edge Pop had coaching over DAntoni and Byron also is negated with Phil Jackson.

No. I think we lost the season tonight. I hope I'm wrong, but that's my gut feeling.

Getting beat is one thing, but the way we gave this away is what's telling.

This will haunt us. I feel the Lakers did the same thing to us that we did to Phoenix in game 1. After Phoenix lost that game, you just knew the series was over.

You can talk all you want about playoff experience, but we keep displaying an inability to score...call it choking, age, being tired, whatever, but sooner or later it's going to come back and bite us on the ass.

Might just be the 07-08 Spurs Achilles heel.

When the Hornets can run the same play all game long and either end up with:

    A) A Chris Paul wide open layup
    B) An alleyoop to Chandler
    C) A wide open 15-footer for West
    D) A wide open three-pointer for Stojakovic

That is more unstoppable than Kobe going one-on-one against Bowen.

Didn't you say they weren't winning game 7 also??

No way they could win the series after losing the first two in New Orleans?

It's a different series. I think the Spurs have moved on to focus on the Lakers. Maybe their fans should too.

All the Lakers need to do is win their home games and steal one in Podunk Texas and they will be fine.

I will stick to my prediction:

    Lakers in 5

    Spurs in 6?
So the spurs will win 4 of the next 5?
Do you know who we are?
    No respect.
Yes, I know who the Lakers are and I've got more confidence in the Spurs winning in 6 games but if it takes 7 then it takes 7. After the Hornets my prediction was Spurs in 6. Either way - I believe the Spurs win this series especially after tonight's game.
Don't be offended because I have confidence in my basketball team.

    Lakers in 6
    Lakers in 7
    Spurs in 7

It's funny hearing Spurs fans worshiping the Pistons despite beating 2 average teams in Philly and Orlando. They havent won since 2004 yet they constantly get praised as a true elite team. When they lose it is because "the Pistons just didnt show up". Constantly the Spurs fans say this about the Pistons.

The Pistons can struggle to beat 2 ty teams and Spurs fans will say "Pistons just ed around. They are so ing great." Spurs fans are literally buttering up Piston fans so much despite who they play, how they beat them, or even if they lose.

Yet the Lakers have proven players (Kobe,Fisher) as well. You want to say it's a different team (which it is from that 3 peat team) but we still have a proven coach and superstar. Lakers closed out Utah in their own house and proved they can hang with the Spurs yet fans say "The Lakers arent that good. They are overrated and they havent proven a damn thing to show why they should be called an elite team." "The Lakers arent as tough as our previous matchups with the Suns/Hornets"

If you want to go that route on the Lakers being so unproven than what have the Pistons proven to be so ing great under Flip Saunders? They constantly get treated like they are so proven after 1 le (which was under a different coach).

It is just comedy how most spurs fans will back up the Pistons and their fans no matter what the situation is,yet find any kind of reason to discredit the Lakers and find any kind of crap to use against them. The fact that Spurs fans are saying the Pistons have been much more impressive than the Lakers in this years playoffs is hilarious!

Jealousy/Hate is an ugly thing to have.

What difference would it have made if the Spurs landed in LA at midnight the night before or at 9AM the next day. They weren't going to practice on Tuesday anyways so it's pointless to think that was the reason they lost. The Spurs had plenty of rest for the game, they simply choked.

If fatigue was really a factor then the Spurs are in deep because if you looked at the schedule the Spurs will get exactly one day of rest between each game.

Confident that we can win? Yes.
The spurs played good for 2 1/2 quarters.
Gotta play the full 48 if you want to win in this league.
It's silly to believe that the lakers would just lay down for
the spurs and not have them fight back.
We'll see how San Antonio repsonds on friday.
    Still looking for a split.

At the end of the day, the Lakers won a home game. They play well at home, and by all accounts they won a game they were supposed to win. Good for them. I'm looking forward to Friday.

When Phil Jackson wins Game 1 of any series, best-of-five or best-of-seven, his teams are 39-0 and have never lost when leading 1-0
When Spurs Down 0-2, They had never survived.

It was a game 1 loss, and the Spurs made countless mistakes in the stretch.

They will learn and bounce back...I'm still goin with Spurs in 6.
