I have to go, if Johnny can translate for me...

If johnny can't translate, i will do it on friday. bye.

So, does it basically say that Donadoni is an incompetent coach who has coached mediocre teams (Livorno, Genoa) before coaching Italy; that his formation tactics (4-3-3) are obsolete; that they central defense is extremely slow, the midfield (consisting of the AC Milan midfield) wasn't even the strongest in Serie A as they finished 5th; and outside of Luca Toni, Donadoni called up a bunch of internationally inexperienced forwards.

The ref allowed a very physical match, so he wasn't calling anything (which is how it's supposed to be). That way Italy couldn't control the tempo of the game

I have watched a lot of games, so far Spain impressed me the most. And also the Dutch were great, but the problem with both teams is that they cannot keep it up for a whole tournament. At least Spain have two killers up front with Villa and Torres, but for the Dutch it has always been a problem that they just don't have a real goalgetter. Of course Van Nistelrooij is a great player, but again he missed a wide open chance. Give such a chance to Mutu or that kind of players (maybe not as talented as Van Nistelrooij, but he has more of a killer instinct) and they will convert it in a goal.

Besides that the Dutch defense is really weak. I cannot understand that in some papers Ooijer and Mathijssen really got good grades, how are they reasoning? Italy didn't score any goals, so they played a good match? Bull ....Thanks to Van der Sar and Bouhlarouz and luck was it that Italy didn't make a goal....

    Good job translating there SAtown

Terzappi sorry I was in here late. I missed the matches today, but I see Portugal waxed the Czechs. Switzerland is about to go bye bye if they drop this game.

    Regarding Donadoni.
How this ing idiot is still managing the Azzurri I have no idea. He is beyond clueless and is a total idiot. Hopefully he's gone after this tournament...I miss Marcello Lippi

Now regarding the tournament, Damn I want La Furia Roja to win it, as I like David Villa and Cesc but we'll see. Aragones has got one of a side there, wow are they talented.

I heard on the ESPN 2 broadcast that Erin Derdiyok (SUI) is the only teenager in the tournament, but that his 20th birthday is tomorrow. Does anyone else find it weird that there are no younger players in the tournament? It seems like there are always 18-19 year olds in tournaments like these

I don't find it really strange that there aren't a lot of young players on this tournament. The medical treatment of football players is becoming better and better (i.e. the famous Milan-lab), so there are a lot players that are prolonging their career. And besides that...there are a lot of talents between the age of 20-25 how are breaking through which leave less room for talents to groom. Also in my opinion the talent level of the U-20 and the Olympic teams are dropping in Europe....

WHAT A GOAL!!!!!! I feel terrible for Switzerland though. With Portugal coming up, I don't see them getting any points in the tournament.

Indeed too bad...Very poor defense btw....But great shot..I have to be honest with that, though I dislike the Turkish team and not because of the players but because of their always trouble making fans...."but they're so passionate, great fans showing emotion" Well bull they are just waiting to get a good fight (btw sorry for my rant and I hope that I don't offend any Turkish posters, because I know that there are a lot of good fans, though there are a select group of fans who are spoiling it for the rest....)

Too bad for the Swiss, because they deserved at least a point against the very weak Czech team and could have stolen a point today, though Turkey deserved to win...

Do you mean if Italy do not advance from group stage in Euro 2008 or if they do not qualify to World Cup 2010? I hope Lippi becomes coach again soon, I don't know why they let him go after World Cup 06.

    Yes.

Lippi refused the contract that the FIGC offered to him (at the end of the world cup) because he wanted to rest with no pressure, etc.
A couple of months ago he said that if the FIGC still wants him he could return coaching italy after euro 2008. It's the most probably solution. My dream is a return of Arrigo Sacchi, but it's impossible...

However 3 candidates for the afterDonadoni
    1-Lippi
    2-Ancelotti
    3-Mancini ( )

Italy for the future has got 1 problems:
he hasn't got a young quickly defender (central) .

The attack is very compe ive: giovinco, rossi, balotelli (1990) , paloschi (1990) and this thing make me optimist for the 2010 World Cup

    Mancini? ugh no thank you.

I would love for Lippi to come back. We'll see if they quit on Donadoni next time out, perhaps they wont have to with Donadoni's whacked formations and sorry strategy. He'll surrender to Domenech.

Speaking of Domenech, what does he have against David Trezeguet?

I think Trezeguet was one of the French players that got into a row with Domenech a while back after the World Cup and he was pissed and said some players spent too much time with their clubs and not their country.
I imagine Domenech doesn't like that he missed the PK in the WC Final either, he seems like that type of manager.

I also think it's a personal grudge against Trezequet, though on the other a lot of coaches leave some good attackers at home, because almost everyone is very defensive minded, with Domenech as one of the leading dogs in this.....It's a shame for football...
