How ing hard is it to press CTRL-T?
It isn't, but the thing is (and this will be complicated to follow) that I download from rapidshare, meaning to download a movie I get three or four download links going at the same time. The way I do it is I have my links pasted in a notepad file and one by one I have to highlight them with the mouse and then copy the link so I can paste it into a tab. I get a whole row of tabs ready so that once they're all loaded I can just click through them one by one and start my downloads. It's a lot easier if I can handle opening new tabs and highlighting links with my mouse hand, while with my other I just hit ctrl+C and ctrl+V to copy and paste the links.

It's really not a huge deal, but more than anything else that's what I use my tabs for, so it's nice to have extras right there that I can open with my mouse.

ball I wasn't laughing at YOU, just at the thought of IE being better than FF. Obviously it's a personal pref and all. Yer one of my fav posters sweetie.
I know and thanks for the kind words. I was just saying it seems like FF being better is a foregone conclusion to everyone but me. And I guess now that you and some others have explained why, you may be right.

If you go to 'Tools' (at the top of the page on FF) .... select 'Options'.... select the 'Tab' option, and click the 3rd box that says "always show the tab bar" and yours will look just like Top-Cherry's screen shot!

You can also put a "new tab" button on the top toolbar using the customize option, and of course clicking on a link with your mouse's middle button opens the link in a new tab.

So there's really a ton of choices.

Sweet. That was the one thing IE had over FF. Now FF owns that too.

    thx

Mozilla Logs 8 Million-plus Firefox 3 Downloads in a Day

After a rocky start to its Firefox 3 "Download Day," Mozilla logged more than 8 million downloads of the latest version of its Web browser in 24 hours, the company said Wednesday.

Firefox 3 was downloaded 8,349,074 times between 2:16 p.m. ET Tuesday and 2:16 p.m. ET Wednesday -- more Firefox downloads than the company has ever had in one day, according to a Mozilla Web site tracking the browser's first-day download process.

Mozilla said on May 28 that it would attempt to establish a Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in a 24-hour period with Firefox 3's release.

As part of the plan, Mozilla deemed Tuesday Download Day and hosted a download party at its Mountain View, California, office.

In comparison, Firefox 2 was downloaded 1.6 million times in its first 24 hours of release; to date, it has been downloaded more than half a billion times, according to Mozilla. There was no Download Day fanfare surrounding Firefox 2's release, however.

Mozilla is now awaiting review by the Guinness judges to see if its goal was accomplished, according to the Download Day Web site. There is currently no record for the number of software downloads in 24 hours; Mozilla's would be the first.

Despite its eventual success, Firefox 3 Download Day didn't go off without a hitch. Interest in the endeavor crippled Mozilla's servers on Tuesday, so the U.S. part of the download process started around 3 p.m. ET -- two hours later than originally planned -- when Mozilla's site wouldn't work properly.

The European leg of the effort began a little more than an hour later than planned and marked the start of the download-logging process. There were no more problems reported once the U.S. site was back up and running.

The first thing I noticed was my blockbuster.com queue loaded VERY quickly. No matter what computer I'm on, it's always taken a long time to load because it's 300 long or so and the scripts are massive or whatever... in FF3 it loaded instantly and I could scroll through it all with no hesitations.

I'm not big on the address bar yet - but I guess it'll get better as I use it more.

FF3 is lightning fast on loading stuff now where before it was a bit sluggish.

Overall, it's pretty minor on the user end. It's big "under the hood".

Sirius doesn't work with it on mine. It's pissing me off. I've even tried downgrading to 2.14 and nothing.

Well they did it, here is a email I just got.

    We did it!

We set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in 24 hours. With your help we reached 8,002,530 downloads.

You are now part of a World Record and the proud owner of the best version of Firefox yet!

Don't forget to download your very own certificate for helping set a Guinness World Record.
