Another big factor was Howard's 3s in the first half. It seemed like everytime we would start to build a cushion he was right there with a 3.

Timmy and Finley had poor shooting nights and we got almost nothing from our bench. Hard to win if 2 starters are a combined 9 for 29 and the bench only chips in 7 points.

This seemed like the kind of game where we could have benefited from some youthful energy, i.e. Hill and Hairston.

In 02-03 Kidd was shooting .341 from 3.
This year he's shooting .401. Not only that, he'd been hitting them most of the night. No other Mav shoots the 3 better this year, and you're saying we should leave Kidd open for 3. You may have a point in your argument that we need to double one player or another, but your stubborn insistence that we should leave him wide open is ridiculous.

Right leave open Terry, Nowitzki, or Howard.

    Makes sense.

    Got it.

I've watched Duncan all year homer. I watch him all the time. Duncan has NOT been mobile all year long. Sometimes he gets away with his little pussy game that he plays and some nights he doesn't. Either way his post game has been crap for the most part. Barely any footwork or post moves. It's get the ball, wait awhile, make a lazy move, throw some weak up and hope it goes in. His moves aren't quick, they aren't decisive. They're slow and plodding which is why he's probably been blocked more times this season than at anytime in his career.
Wow you have some weak arguements, do you really think what you said would be true, with him averaging 20.5???? How can someone who plays like you say get that? It's not like he's the tall version of D-Whistle, he earns that with his jay, bank shot, and vast array of post moves. It's true that he rarely goes up strong, and that I wish he would, but the player you describe would average more like 10 pts a game.

He's played like this his whole career. A lot of his game is ugly/awkward. But he's successful at it. Tonight was an off game.

espn says with Gooden signed bonner will be used more at SF
Maybe if Pop has too many wine bottles RIGHT before a game. Bonner has nowhere near the speed to stay with almost any NBA SF in the league. I want Fin to come off the bench, but that was not what I had in mind.

Sorry but, I've never been into excuses. This year's Spurs team needs to do some serious soul searching because at this stage of the season, just winning one, losing one, will not bring #5 home to the Alamo city. There is no excuse for us playing the way we've been playing since the start of the rodeo road trip. We should be winning 8 out of 10 at this stage of the season...not .500 ball. If there is something wrong with Timmy then Pop should sit his ass and get him healthy. We have way too many deadbeats like Finley, Vaughn, Udoka, Oberto, etc.
    There isn't any excuse making.

The Mavs are professional basketball players and they played well in their gym where the Spurs have already beaten them this season.

But you are going overboard...posting the Spurs need some soul searching.

Yes, the defense was bad tonight. However, the game came down to the last 2 possessions and Kidd hits the three and they win the game.

A good game by the Mavs.

Also, the fact this team is 40-20 and when they have missed Manu and Tony for a portion of the season and they have to incorporate Mason, Hill, and Bonner into the offense has been successful.

Please, don't get carried away like this team is a .500 team(like a lot people thought during the 1st month of the season) or the Phoenix Suns!!

    Yikes!!

What does clutchness have to do with effort or heart. When you are the leader, you cant slack off and say well I have been clutch for 12 year and now I will take it easy. This doesnt define his career but it does define his season! He has shown a lack of effort and fear alot this season and when he does I have noticed TP starts to play the same way.

Everything starts and ends with TD thats why he gets 20 mil a year, you want another ring you gotta go play hard every play or put some one in who will. Lack of effort catches on as can be seen by our season long poor D!
not to make excuses for him but the guy is playing next to matt freaking bonner as the other big man. bonner was late on numerous rotations 2nite. even bowen was horrible with his perimeter D.

saying Timmy complained to the refs too much 2nite and that he sometimes doesn't try as hard in the regular season are valid arguments. But come playoff time, Duncan will be the last person you question about their effort and desire.

Reading comprehension kid....learn it. I didn't compare the Spurs to the Suns simpleton. I compared a 32 year old Duncan's movements to a 37 year old Shaq's movements. And Shaq moves a of a lot better despite being older and carrying more weight. Tim Duncan had 19 points and 12 boards tonight and STILL looked like garbage. Like I said before, numbers don't tell the whole story.

You poor soul. You're drivel is just that illogical and nonsensical drivel. A little bit of basketball knowledge is dangerous for you. I won't even glorify your idiocy, it will take too much time and frankly, it's entertaining to see your stupid comments posted here.

I guess you're right and Duncan's numbers which show he is having one of his best years along with the Spurs being in 2nd place in a very competetive conference (unlike the East) doesn't count for . You're right we much rather have Shaq, so we can be in 9th place fighting for a play-off spot. WAKE UP NUMBNUTTS!!

Sorry, but I'm just not into mediocrity. With the kind of money these guys make I expect them to give 110% each and every game. When they need a breather then Pop can pull them out. I am not asking for a victory each and every night. I am asking for them to play like they care, to play hard and generally give a damn and they are just not showing that lately. This is not looking like a championship year when you compare the rolls we got on in previous championship years. Maybe that Cuban needs to come light a fire in our guys ass because Pop sure ain't doing it.

I hope Houston and Denver lose a couple games so they get off the Spurs' ass.

EDIT: Meant Portland instead of Houston. At least Denver is on a losing streak, maybe they can keep it up. And Portland won their last 3, hope they crash back down.

Anyone know the combined # of games Tony, Tim, and Manu have missed? I think they've had the injury bug as bad or worse than Houston, but Utah takes the cake from my guesstimation(Boozer was out forever, Deron was out too, but idk who their 3rd best guy is).

Obviously marhill, you and I definitely have a different set of standards. I am into winning and you seem to think playing halfass is A-OK. If the way they played in Portland got you all excited then so be it. If you think us losing to the Cavs the other night got you all excited then so be it. And if you think us beating up on the lowly Clippers was showing the league that we are the big badasses on the block then you obviously have never been involved in anything that calls for being compe ive.

Sorry kid, but you are wasting my time.

Face it Tim is either injured or Lazy with no heart.
Duncan is injured. He just got back Monday from missing a week.

I never understood any so-called Spurs fan who could possibly think Duncan is lazy with no heart. Pop, when Duncan couldn't play last week:

I just think he's too important to us. When he said he couldn't go on Tuesday, that affects me. He doesn't say that. He doesn't miss anything. He doesn't miss practices. When he says that, that worries me.
Duncan is the heart and soul of this team. His work ethic is impeccable. He had a lousy game, but to call out his heart for the game, this team, is sad.

It's Duncan's heart that brought 4 les home.
