Funny -- she reminds me of Jane Adams in Happiness.
The one time I had to make sure I could hear again while attending a concert, was MBV @ Coac a...man, they were obliterating ear drums across the Main Stage.
Lucky.
I wonder if we'll ever get a follow up. They're supposedly working on it. Duke Nukem got a part 2, so MBV should give us one more
Beauty
Yeah, I caught them live because I didn't know if I'd ever get the chance to...and Sunday's headliner was The Cure and I've seen them before.
Not to mention The Cure isn't very good.
Slowdive - Souvlaki
Now? Or ever?
If the former, can't argue one way or the other since I haven't listened to anything they've done in the last 10 or so years. If the latter, you're just plumb crazy. Half the bands you drool over in this thread wouldn't exist without The Cure as an influence.
Having only listened to Disintegration, it was so dull to me.
One of those bands I guess I respect for the bricks they laid down, but not very into. Just like Sonic Youth and (the)Pixies.
Yeah, I share the sentiment with Sonic Youth. I know they're important, get why they're important, but have never really liked any of their songs other than "Bull in the Heather."
The Cure (and The Pixies, depending on how much you've listened) are worth more of your time, though. And I know it's sacrilege, but I've always thought Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me a better album than Disintegration.
The Cure, take em or leave 'em, are definitely an influential band. I'm not a huge fan, but I can listen to Disintegration and the earlier stuff, but I won't go out of the way to see them. I used to work with this really cool chick, who was hot but goth, that follows Robert Smith around the country when they tour. I don't get the obssession, but to each his/her/it own.
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People
