Spurs recap from first day:
Interested in Monta Ellis, AK47, Oden, Pachulia and Lucas III. + that Gortat fake .
damn, I am only happy with Kirilenko rumors.
What, you mean HEB and Northside Ford commercials don't bring in 7 figure supplemental income?![]()

Wake me when the Spurs actually sign someone. I've already read enough poor-quality posts from wanna-be GMs to last the whole offseason.
true that. i always wanted to see Red or Jose Calderon on the Spurs. they seemed like good fits here.
Wtf that's pretty damn cheap.
Dunleavy already gone, Bucks will likely overpay Red , and OJ Mayo getting interest from like 6 different teams. Who's left? Kirilenko, maybe Jarrett Jack? Not looking good. Surprised the Spurs didn't offer Dunleavy something... maybe saving cap room for Kirilenko.
Dunleavy getting dat bonner jack
I think the Spurs are going to go all in on AK47. Something tells me they really want him. They always have.
Clippers are apparently signing everybody.
It'll be interesting to see what Nikola Pekovic does. Haven't heard anything on him lately other than that Minny extended him a QO. I know the Blazers were interested but can't afford him after the T-Rob trade. I think the Twolves match anything thrown at him. And, once Dwight makes up his mind all the other Centers will be scooped up quickly more than likely.
Would like that option since it seems like we are looking for a good backup center.
Not sure what they give up to get him tho, a 2015 first at most probably.
If they really want Tim to take it easy this year and play him as little as possible it doesn't get much better than Robin Lopez backing him up on a 5M/year contract...
The perfect off-season for me would be if the Spurs re-sign Splitter and Ginobili as well as sign Kirilenko and Oden as free-agents. If the Spurs have to trade a first round pick and Splitter for Gortat I am not interested. It's a realistic possibility too.![]()
I see your point, but your earlier idea of lowering the individual max salary is actually the opposite of what the league needs to do. The league should eliminate the individual maximum salary and allow teams to pay a player as much as they want under the cap.
As it stands, Howard will get a max contract anywhere he goes, so cap-cir vention stuff like a TV show with the Lakers (and other endorsement opportunities in big markets) can really tip the scales. However, if Houston was allowed to offer Howard their entire cap space (I don't know the number, call it $30M), the Lakers, being over the cap, couldn't match it. If the Kings wanted to go after LeBron next year they could try and clear their entire cap and offer him something like $50M.
This would prevent the formation of superteams because the elite talent would be more spread-out around the league. LeBron obviously would rather have his max money in Miami than Cleveland, but if Cleveland could offer him $10-15M more per year (I know they couldn't in 2010 because they were capped out and that Miami had all the cap space), he might have stayed.
Now the Spurs have also been rumored to be targeting John Lucas III:

Is JL3 backup material? I don't know much about him. I know he's small and he's played 3rd string PG most of his career. Isn't he basically just a smaller version of Patty Mills?
I figured that there was a chance that Splitter could possibly get a team that would try to over pay just to get him.. And it looks like that day may soon come. I also thought that if it were to actually happen, to just let him walk. Would have been okay with it, had he actually showed up in the finals but didn't.
No wonder the spurs didn't waive Bonner and its less likely they amnesty him this year. oh well..
