Are you worried about the UN taking over the Alamo? So is this Texas state senator.

Is the United Nations trying to steal The Alamo from Texas? Texas State Senator Donna Campbell (R) is concerned enough about the possibility that she's proposed legislation to ban foreign ownership of the site. She was prompted by a UN cultural agency that is considering designating The Alamo a world heritage site, which she is strangely confusing with an attempted UN takeover.

Here's what happened. In 2014, the US Department of the Interior nominated the San Antonio Missions (five former Spanish missions, including The Alamo) to collectively be designated a World Heritage Site by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The designation brings international recognition and, if necessary, UN support for a site's maintenance; there are
currently over 1,000 world heritage sites, including 22 in the US. None have been taken over by UN forces. According to the Texas Tribune, UNESCO will make a decision on the nomination by July.

Sen. Campbell has expressed concern that The Alamo, the site of an iconic defeat of Texas independence fighters and a symbol of state pride, could eventually be sold to the UN. "It was there that Texas first stood her ground to be free, and the UN doesn't have any business there," she said.

    Her
proposed bill is meant to prevent by banning the Texas land office from vesting "any ownership, control, or management" over The Alamo to "an en y formed under the laws of another country."

Latest Proof Obama’s A Muslim: He Openly Possesses An Index Finger

some genius at “American Thinker” — where the stuff that’s too crazy for WorldNetDaily ends up — has finally found the conclusive evidence of Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Guevara Lumumba Hitler’s definite membership in the Islamic Death Cult: He was photographed throwing Muslim Gang Signs! There it is, right in the picture up there!

F.W. Burleigh typed these words, allegedly in English:

Is President Obama a Muslim? A lot has been written about this, but if photographs speak louder than words, then a photo taken at last August’s U.S.-African Leaders’ Summit in Washington D.C. might shed considerable light.

It shows Barack Hussein Obama flashing the one-finger affirmation of Islamic faith to dozens of African delegates.

John McCain Calls For US War In Ukraine, Libya, Syria, And Iraq

Yesterday Senator John McCain spoke at the New America Foundation’s Future of War Conference on his vision for American foreign policy – war.

McCain said the US should send (more) ground forces into Iraq and expand the combat mission into Syria to destroy ISIS. McCain lamented that Libya had fallen into chaos and said the fault was with the US “walking away.” He also asserted that Ukraine should be given weapons to fight Russian-backed separatists in the east and dismissed concerns that the US arming Ukraine would escalate the conflict.

To pay for these wars McCain suggested cutting en lements and social spending

Georgia Republicans latest to propose airing of right-wing propaganda as 'history' in public schools

Georgia lawmakers last week introduced a resolution calling on schools to screen conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza's latest movie, "America: Imagine A World Without Her."According to the resolution sponsored by six state House Republicans, D'Souza made the movie to "combat the idea that America is a 'disgrace' to the world."

Yup, Georgia wants to "encourage" middle schools and high schools in Georgia to show the latest right-wing propaganda project of an admitted felon in history classes. Which is totally cool, though, because, you see, this six-pack of Georgia right-wingers only wants to show this propaganda because they are convinced ... convinced! ... that history classes are already a cesspool of left-wing propaganda.

Black lawmakers should be ‘hanging from a noose’ for boycotting Netanyahu’s speech

the only reason those members of the Congressional Black Caucus had been elected in the first place was because the voters in their “districts are all dumb clucks.”

Sharia law: North Carolina Republicans empower magistrates to refuse to marry blacks, Jews, gays

North Carolina Republicans' latest wedge issue gambit, Senate Bill 2 (An Act to Allow Magistrates [...] to Recuse Themselves From Performing Duties Related to Marriage Ceremonies Due to Sincerely Held Religious Objection), passed the state Senate Wednesday on a near party-line vote

SB2 would permit a magistrate with a "sincerely held religious objection" to recuse him- or herself from performing weddings by the simple act of so notifying the chief district court judge.

No examination of the sincerity of that belief (such as would-be conscientious objectors face under Selective Service rules) would be required.

Neither would the recusing magistrate be required to state exactly
what it is he objects to:

same-sex marriage (which many fundamentalist Christian denominations hold to be a sin),

    mixed-race marriage (regarding which the
Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' prophet, Warren Jeffs, proclaimed"If you marry a person who has connections with a Negro, you would become cursed"),

the re-marriage of a divorcee (which the Catholic Church holds to be a sin),

the marriage of a Christian and a Jew (sometimes frowned upon by both religions),

marriage between cousins (legal in North Carolina but proscribed by the Catholic church), or what have you.

According to former Gaston County magistrate William Stevenson:

There comes a point where one has to choose between following the commands of the Lord and following the commands of the government.

Likewise, former Swain County magistrate, Gilbert Breedlove:

There are many who won’t let their personal beliefs interfere with their jobs. In this case, I had no option.

    Or
Tommy Holland, former Graham County magistrate:

When you’re a magistrate, you take the oath to uphold the law of North Carolina. It’s up to you to honor it. I just couldn’t.

Boehner's ads attacking conservatives look like the spots Republicans ran against Dems—in 2002!

The GOP civil war, which burst wide open with last week's Homeland Security funding debacle, has now reached a fever pitch. The American Action Network, a super PAC tied to none other than House Speaker John Boehner, is airing $400,000 worth of television ads, radio spots, and robocalls targeting "dozens" of Boehner's fellow Republicans for their refusal to go along with rest of their party when it comes to paying for the department's operations.

This congressman doesn’t want a federal science board to be allowed to consider science

Last year, the House of Representatives passed two absurd anti-science bills, theSecret Science Reform Act and the EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act. It will come as no surprise that both bills, under the guise of “reform,” would have the practical effect of crippling the EPA’s efforts to assess science in a fair and timely way. I don’t have the heart to get into it — follow the links above for the details.

The bills are back; the House considered them both again yesterday. Emily Atkin has the gory details if you’re interested. They might get a little further this time — the Democratic Senate didn’t take them up last year, obviously, but the GOP-controlled Senate might this year — though it won’t matter in the end, as Obama has threatened to veto both. So it’s mainly yet another act of reactionary symbolism from the right.

All that is by way of background so I can draw your attention to a hilarious amendment attached to the Science Advisory Board bill. It comes by way of the bill’s sponsor, Rep. David McKinley (R-W.Va.), a far-right, coal-country, climate-denying conservative of the old school.

Here’s the amendment. Its sole purpose is to prohibit the EPA’s Science Advisory Board from taking into consideration, for any purpose, the following reports:

So. When considering what to do about carbon pollution, EPA may not consider what America’s best scientists have concluded about it, what an international panel of scientists has concluded about it, how the federal government has officially recommended calculating its value, or the most comprehensive solutions for it. Oh, and it can’t consider Agenda 21 either. Otherwise the EPA can go nuts.

As I’ve said many, many times, most Americans have no idea how bat crazy the House GOP has gone.

They serve the base, and only the base (and Politico obsessives) pay close attention.

But imagine, if you will, a GOP House and Senate paired with President Jeb Bush. A bill like this might pass. Politicians might be picking and choosing, based on ideological criteria, which scientific reports administrative agencies are allowed to consider. It’s amusing in its own dark way, but it’s not a sitcom or a satire. It’s real life.

    This Week In Crazy

    5. Ben Carson

“A lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight, and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there?” Carson mused. “Ask yourself that question.”

    4. Gordon Klingenschmitt

Klingenschmitt agrees: The murders were a hate crime.

    Against Christians.

“An American atheist has killed three Muslims in North Carolina, because they were like Christians!” he declared. Naturally, he went on to explain that this was the Southern Poverty Law Center’s fault.

    3. Louie Gohmert

The latest example is Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), who called in to the “Point of View” radio show on Tuesday to explain how President Obama is inviting God’s wrath on the United States.

“I don’t know if you saw this story,” Gohmert lamented, “but it was reported from Nigeria that this administration said unless you change your law to allow same-sex marriage, then we’re not going to help you against the radical Islamists Boko Haram, which is killing Christians, having young girls raped and sold into sex slavery.”

Of course, if Steve Stockman and WorldNetDaily said it, it has to be true.

According to Gohmert, this totally-not-made-up “fact” is yet another sign of the looming Apocalypse.

    2. David McKinley

Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) added an amendment that really kicks things up a notch. It would ban the EPA from ever considering the following reports when making decisions related to the SAB:

    • The United States Global Climate Research Program National Climate Assessment
    • The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fifth Assessment Report
    • The United Nations’ Agenda 21 Sustainable Development Plan
    • The May 2013 Technical Update of the Social Cost of Carbon for Regulatory Impact Analysis Under Executive Order No. 12866
    • The July 2014 Sustainable Development Solutions Network and Ins ute for Sustainable Development and International Relations’ Pathways to Deep Decarbonization Report

In other words, as Grist’s David Roberts explains:

When considering what to do about carbon pollution, EPA may not consider what America’s best scientists have concluded about it, what an international panel of scientists has concluded about it, how the federal government has officially recommended calculating its value, or the most comprehensive solutions for it. Oh, and it can’t consider Agenda 21 either. Otherwise the EPA can go nuts.

    1. Kris Kobach

While discussing the University of Minnesota’s move to limit the use of racial descriptions in campus crime alerts, Kobach took a call from someone who warned that “given the recent story that Obama was instructing immigration enforcement to not enforce the immigration laws against illegal aliens, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch, Kris, to envision an announcement that any black person accused of a crime, charged with a crime, is not going to be prosecuted, regardless of the crime.”

Despite the glaring evidence to the contrary, Kobach agreed.

“Well, it’s already happened more or less in the case of civil rights laws,” he replied. “So I guess it’s not a huge jump, I think it’s unlikely, but you know I’ve learned to say with this president, never say never.”

Florida officials banned from saying ‘climate change’ because Gov. Rick Scott doesn’t think it’s real

    AD
ministrators working for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection have been banned from using the terms “climate change” or “global warming” in any state do ents, as well in meetings, on orders handed down from high-ranking officials in Gov. Rick Scott’s administration, reports the Miami Herald.

Staffers in the DEP say they are not allowed to use any terms not deemed, “a true fact” by higher ups in the state government.

“We were told not to use the terms ‘climate change,’ ‘global warming’ or ‘sustainability,’” explained Christopher Byrd, a former attorney with the DEP’s Office of General Counsel until 2013. “That message was communicated to me and my colleagues by our superiors in the Office of General Counsel.”

According to the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, DEP officials were ordered not to use the terms in any official communications, emails, or reports, with one former staffer saying she was cautioned by a supervisor to refrain from using the terms in staff meetings.

“We were told that we were not allowed to discuss anything that was not a true fact,” former DEP employee Kristina Trotta explained.

    Months old, but worth repeating

Alabama Chief Justice: The First Amendment Protects Only Christians

In comments earlier this year only now coming to light, the chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court asserted that the First Amendment only applies to Christianity since neither Buddha nor Mohammed created man.

"Everybody, to include the United States Supreme Court, has been deceived as to one little word in the First Amendment called religion. They can’t define it," chief justice Roy Moore said in January, according to video published Friday by Raw Story.

“Buddha didn’t create us, Mohammed didn’t create us, it was the God of the Holy Scriptures. They didn’t bring the Koran over on the pilgrim ship,” he continued. “Let’s get real, let’s go back and learn our history. Let’s stop playing games.”

The chief justice was speaking at a Pastor for Life Luncheon, an event in Jackson Miss., sponsored by Pro-Life Mississippi, according to Raw Story.

Moore lamented that it's not "politically correct" to discuss God and the law because Americans have been "divorced from God for so many years."

He then argued that the reference to "life" in the Declaration of Independence established a pro-life stance for the country.

"If technology’s supposed to increase our knowledge, how did we become so stupid?" he asked.

"When they put ‘life’ in there, it was in the womb — we know it begins at conception. Why aren’t we going the right way instead of the wrong way?"

If Florida censors climate change talk, it's not alone

But long before Florida unofficially banned these climate-related terms, other states passed laws attempting to limit the influence of climate change on land policies and education.

In 2012, North Carolina passed legislation banning the state from basing coastal policies on the latest predictions of sea level rise, ABC News reported. Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue allowed the bill, known as House Bill 819, to become law by not taking action against it.

The law was a response to a prediction by the state's Coastal Resources Commission that sea levels could rise by 39 inches (99 centimeters) in the next century. The prediction raised fears that home insurance rates would increase and coastal development would slow.

Proponents of the law said the prediction is based on incomplete information, but critics accused the state of denying climate science.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, sea levels in North Carolina and other "hotspots" along the East Coast between North Carolina and Massachusetts are rising at three to four times the rate worldwide.

Meanwhile, other states had been passing laws of their own to curb the influence of climate change in education. In 2012, Tennessee passed a law to allow teachers to present alternative theories to climate change and evolution, making it the second state, after Louisiana, to pass such a law.

The law was supposedly designed to
protect teachers who "help students understand, analyze, critique and review in an objective manner the scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses of existing scientific theories covered in the course being taught," Reuters reported.

But some scientists saw the law as a threat to education. "We need to keep kids' curiosity about science alive and not limit their ability to understand the world around them by exposing them to misinformation," Brenda Ekwurzel, of the Union of Concerned Scientists, told Reuters.

At least five other states have considered similar legislation.

Ben Carson: The People Will Stop Obama's Third Term!

WorldNetDaily has become infatuated with a bizarre conspiracy theory that President Obama will remain in office after his second term expires, and today the far-right outlet, best known for promoting birther claims, decided to ask likely GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson the question on everyone’s minds: “Who would stop Obama from remaining in office past his second term?”

Rather than just dismiss the absurd statement outright, Carson said that the people will rise up to defend the Cons ution’s limitation on a president serving more than two terms in office against Obama.

President Obama leaves office on Jan. 20, 2017 – or does he? The Internet’s abuzz with talk about the myriad of ways Obama might seek to extend his White House role – sparked in part by radio conjecture from conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh – and now at least one likely presidential candidate, Ben Carson, has weighed in to say: Don’t worry, Obama will leave.

First, the question from WND to Carson: “Who would stop Obama from remaining in office past his second term?”

And Carson’s reply, via email: “We the people would oppose it through our Cons ution, the 22nd Amendment of which forbids more than two terms. Even some of the timid people in the other two branches of government would be willing to stand behind the fortified walls of our Cons ution.”

Sounds reasonable – but the buzz persists.

    http://www.rightwingwatch.org/conten...mas-third-term

"would oppose", how about "have blocked, for many decades"

I'm guessing his brain surgery victims do better than his English and history.
