It's just really beautiful and fascinating stuff from a mother nature standpoint, I don't know how you can't be at least a little bit interested in it.
does weather tracking really get you guys rocks off?
i mean...that's great if so...but man...why not get some good paying jobs doing it professionally!

I'm into pretty much anything remotely related to the physical sciences: atmospheric science, oceanography, geology, astronomy, physics.
I find it all fascinating. I really just want to know how everything works. I get so obssessd with finding out why things are the way they are I read a lot about them.
It is really hard to make that a career choice though. Especially after you knocked off in HS and didn't get yourself into a decent college because prestige is huge when it comes to getting into the approriate places and getting a job.
But I'm still considering it.
Wait untill we have a string theory thread. Then you'll see who the real hardcore geeks in this forum are.
Id love to talk about string theory instead of the ominous onslaught headed our way
Thanks Steve Brown.
i love astronomy and ancient historical stuff like egypt, indians in south america, bibilical times, etc, but i'm not too much for weather...i spend too much time thinking comedy, music, and hot men...i feel guilty...but just a lil bit...![]()

The 0z run of the NAM is currently running. At about 10, the GFS will be ready to go, and then we'll have that one sometime before midnight. Once that is done, the smaller hurricane models such as the GFDL can run.
Since I could remember I have had interest in weather.
I was considering studying Meteorology but decided to study Bussines administration Specialization: Banking.
Any of you think the storm could affect places like, Beaumont...lufkin, diboll?
As for the traffic, as the storm gets closer they will reverse all the highways out to one way, and when that happens the traffic flow will pick up.Yeah but i wonder how bad it'll be tommorow morning or afternoon
I'm pretty sure Beaumont would get tons of rain and wind, since it would get the strong side of the storm...if we are still headed for a Galveston area landfall. I have relatives in Port Arthur which is right next to Beaumont and they've already headed out
The way the upper air situation is setting up, I wouldn't want to be anywhere on the Texas coast because there is a lot of unperdictability involved with this storm.
They are getting more rain than they already get?
That could mean floods.![]()
I have relatives in Beaumont, and I just couldn't believe it was a Texas city. They get so many rain throughout the week, it might actually affect them.
Thanks, and sorry for a "stupid question" but I just haven't been on top of things.
Well my Friday and next week just got a lot less busy... Got clients all along the coast who have relocated to north and west Texas and basically taking a vacation.
I may go down there with a group from work to help clean up though, they're some good people and it sucks thinking about their homes and lives being ed up like is probably gonna happen.
No one said it was a stupid question....
Beaumont is close to the coast....no where there is safe. I hope they've left or have plans to do so...
It wasn't a stupid question...and I'm probably not the best person to answer but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.![]()
I sure hope people listen to reason and cut down their driving over the next few days, so those evacuees can get to their destinations
Jess' family is staying is Houston. We tried to talk them out of it, but they didn't want to leave.
I gues there wasn't enough Katrina coverage because people just don't understand.
I just got done talking to one of my friends who lives in Port A, they are getting out tomorrow.
Him: "we couldn't get any plywood, I've got some ducktape I'm gonna put on the windows. Do you think I should just make an X, or what?"
Me: "dude, just make a giant middle finger on them and get the out of there."
I will keep them in my prayers Manny, I hope it dosent hit Houston anyway, I have relatives there as well.
AHF/Ginofan/other Aggies-
I'm trying to get my sister up here in Fort Worth from College Station. She doesn't want to leave until Friday morning, 'cause she's getting her ring Thursday and is going to the football game.
I think the traffic on 45 is going to be atrocious, so I told her to take Hwy 6 to Waco, then head up 35. You guys have any better ideas?
As of 10pm Rita has winds of 175mph gusting to 215mph and minimum pressure is 897mb.
Your sister's an Aggie and you're a Longhorn fan? Woo sibbling rivalry!
I wish I could help you out with traffic directions, but I'm the worst when it comes to that, I go one way there and one way back. Maybe AHF or Jim have some suggestions.
My mom left Vic. 30 min's ago.
I'm not expecting her to show up here for hours seeing as how he traffic is so bad.
But she has to turn right around and go back to get the rest of the fam..... just driving is gonna take FOREVER.
Meanwhile I havn;t been able to get thru to my BF Randi alllll day. And I've tried calling like 100 times.
the plan was that they would leave Clute around 6pm.
I guess I'll find out when/if they get here.
