Scouting Report
Pros: Watkins is a top ball-hawk who has a burst to the ball to make the big play and finish with sure, strong tackling. He has fine range with the ability to make up huge chucks of yardage using his speed and long strides to cover the field. He is a very big, tall and smooth safety that has good natural instincts and looks great when playing center field at the free safety spot. He has very good hip turn for a man his size. He knows how to use his size to get high in the air and snatch or deflect a ball above the reach of most players. He is very intelligent and knows how to use good angles to his advantage. He is a solid, reliable tackler who wraps up consistently. He has the size and speed to match up well with big receivers and tight ends.
Cons: His coverage skills have progressed, but still needs work, especially his ability to match up in man. In run support, he is not a big hitter. He needs overall strength development that will elevate his power significantly.
Numbers: At the Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds with a 41” vertical jump and 11’1” broad jump. He did 14 reps in the 225-pound bench press.
Skinny: He is similar to the Jaguars’ Donovin Darius in size, athletic ability and level of development. He is an imposing athlete with an early starting grade, but needs some development in pass coverage. He is a top-100 prospect with the talent to be a fine player with some work. Teams like the Giants and Dolphins are interested late on the first day, likely in the third round.
Seems like a good pick for the Cowboys, for sure needs to get stronger though.
Congrats on Watkins. I wanted him something fierce. He's going to be a great run-stuffing playmaker for you guys. 6-4, 210 pounds, big, strong, athletic...
He'll make an immediate impact on a part-time basis because of his sub-par coverage skills, but as a fourth linebacker or second strong safety, he'll add depth and the defense won't even miss a beat.
I still can't believe Rodrique Wright is still on the board....
He was a 1st round pick last year, how the he drop from 1st round to 5th maybe 6th round![]()
same thing with jonathon scott
Yeah, very strange. Lions just got a steal with getting him in 5th round. He will be pissed off and even more motivated that he got picked so late.
Rod Wright will be a steal, Dibbles could possibly be a steal.
This draft is still a huge failure for Texas prospects unless these two guys go soon.
Pat Watkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MUTHA IN YEAHMUTHA A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rod Wright is going to be a good pickup for whoever picks him up. Probably too small for Dallas' 3-4 scheme though, which is too bad, I like his potential despite the fact he's a ing Longhorn.
More OU players have been taken before UT playersthats ed up
"We want to hear what they'll say about us when we beat them, since USC is the greatest team of all time"
--Rod Wright
It looks like Joe Klopfenstein or Dominique Byrd will be starting at TE for the Rams, the Rams traded away Manumaleuna for a pick
The Rams would be smart to trade up and get Rodrique Wright.
They can still use all the defensive help they can spare.

look at my post on the last page!!!
Manu was worthless
Byrd and now they have Todd Heap's twin in Klopfenstein.
Byrd Im more excited about coming out of that USC program. Concerned about him being injured though, if he can stay healthy, he and Klop are steals.
