Well, he was their starting point guard.
TNT just listed Smush Parker as a "key loss" for the Lakers' roster.
Well, he was their starting point guard.
Adelman doesn't like Scola at all...
JVG would have liked him even less, I bet.
Stat of the night, so far:
Kobe has 34 points, as many as the five next highest scores on the team, combined.
Kobe has attempted 28 shots so far, 1 more than the 5 players with the next highest FGA on the team, combined.
Ballhoggery at its best, folks.
And yet in that game 7 against the Suns a couple years ago he only managed like 1 attempt in the second half? Kobe is a waste of air.
Kobe is maybe the most overated player in the history of the game. Honestly is he really any better a player than say Tracy Mcgrady? He rode Shaq to 3 les and since he has had his own team he has won jack . His 3 les and big stats give him all this cred about being the best player in the NBA but he is far from it. Without Shaq he would be 29 years old with big stats and no les. Lots of guys did that in their careers and are nowhere near the status that Kobe enjoys.
I tend to agree. If you stick Kobe on a lackluster team in a small market instead of Kobe Bryant you get Michael Redd.
If only the Charlotte Hornets hadn't traded Kobe on draft night.

Kobe is the best baller in the world, hater.
I feel bad for the dude, his game is being wasted in LA.
Kobe is the most controversial player in the game.
I win.
He is not even the best baller in the WEST, #21 TD has that HONOR!!
Kobe is an amazing talent. He just lacks the skill of making his team mates better. Maybe its selfishness, I don't know. All I know is that he doesn't play the team game all that well. But there is no denying his talent.
The team just sucks. Who else on that team can score? Walton's a good utility guy. Odom can score every now and then (and wasn't playing), Bynum is too young to do much consistently. The rest is rubbish.
Alot of Kobe haters here...
Looks like all went as expected. Washington was the backup point, Udoka was out of the rotation and Pop let Duncan and Parker play regular minutes.
Nice win to start this season off.
Washington only played 11 minutes
observations from yesterday:
- Duncan looks hungry.
- Parker came out blazin' but forced his shot and got very sloppy towards the end of the game.
- Ginobili is still a hustler
- Bowen is still tenacious on defense
- Barry is as relaxed as he's ever been
- so is Pop
- Elson hates the mask
- Bonner is a good defender
- so is Roy
- Pryzbilla (or u'd think chris billup if you heard Marv) looks like a re
- his screaming doesn't help him..
- The Blazers tried to break Duncan's back
- With an improved Jack and Oden coming back, the blazers can be contenders (thats right)
- Webster would fit very well with the spurs
- Washington: Good hustle, bit nervous but overall good performence
Nice post but gotta disagree on both of those points, especially Bonner being a good defender. Last year, Bonner was a horrible defender. In this game he was a really bad defender.
At least that's a step in the right direction![]()
Pop was dying in this game how bad Bonner was playing D in the first half. Bonner missed rotations on back to back plays and Pop was exploding.
About Parker, Pop praised his D in postgame and obviously he got off to a quick start offensively. But I think he got tired rather than sloppy as the game wore on. He got two key baskets late in the game though.
Manu's power dunk was. He looked so mad.

Oh .. and Bruce Bowen's D was very good.
yet, Bonner has highest +/- (+10)
Was that a career game for Aldridge? I want what he's on. He was all over the court.
Putting Bonner on Aldridge was asking for trouble. I agree it looked lke Parker hasn't gotten his conditioning back.
