Really key in this game is that the Lakers never gave up the lead during the Celtic charge in the 4th (please check). They were really making lucky, out of this world plays but they held the lead steady in the fourth.
You could even say Kobe put in a load of effort defensively he might have been a little tired on offense. I can understand how playing TOUGH defense can tire you out on offense with watching the Spurs struggle on offense after busting their ass on defense. That's when Kobe should look for his big guys though especially if those big guys are playing a good game. If the bigs are not playing a good game or look timid then fair enough take the shot yourself.

Paul Pierce and Ray Allen I gotta say have been pretty pathetic for 2 out of 3 games this series. Lakers have done a great job on them.
Kobe played a ty ty 2nd half and made some terrible decisions. With that said, there was at least 3 or 4 times where you see the Lakers pass around the perimiter for 15 seconds then toss it to Drew or Pau and they go into their post moves only to panic and toss it out hoping for a bailout with seconds on the clock. The lanes were there to take it to the rack but none of the Lakers did so on a regular basis in the 2nd half except Fish.
Lakers actually played a crappy game and came out with the win!
Thanks Ray!!!!!![]()
They could only get it to within one. That was key IMO Lakers held that lead and doing that in an almost must win game on the home teams floor is always a great performance.
No, I'm right. Horry knocked down 2002 game 4 shot and then ed the Lakers in 2003 when Mitch didn't find a worthy replacement.
#24, you're dead on. "They never gave up".....not just the lead, but, they never gave up going for it in physical force, instead of just seeing it play out before their eyes and hoping for the victory. That's what they did in Game 2.
They owed him, 21. To dally with him was inexcusable. It remains a stain to this day.
I agree 100%
I was a great defender so-so scorer but when I guarded really good offensive players ... I was even weaker on offense.
Also Agree get in the post and pass or screen for fish like they did late ...
Preach Cully. he missed that shot vs. Sa and we didnt want to pay him after. Dumb move by us.
Yep... if the Lakers showed this intensity in the 4th of game 2 we are looking for the sweep Thursday. Regardless, great victory tonight!!!
He missed a wide-open look and he expected the Lakers to pay him
Props to the Lakers for grinding out an ugly ass game that this was. They have grit. Man have they come along way since the 2008 finals. This really hurts though. Celtic fans are pretty devastated right now. I was at the game.
I never suggested dally. Fish can tutor his replacement next year from the pine and still play crunch time minutes.
+1. ty game all around. Kobe, Artest, Gasol, Pierce, Allen, Rondo all played like crap pretty much. Only Fish and KG played pretty damn well...
I went to a playoff loss it sucks and it hurts ...
Man BG, that had to suck. Just gotta suck it up, drink some, and get ready for the next game. Oh, and slip some viagra into Ray Allen's drink.![]()
I agree.
From a classy Celts fan:
I love the Celtics, I generally get annoyed by our fans (lack of knowledge, extreme homerism, beligerant drunkenness), but last night was ridiculous - went to game 3 and saw 3 incidents that showed how classless our fans can actually be
let me preface by saying I have traveled to opposing cities to see the Celtics and Sox - cities have included Seattle, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, New Orleans, Orlando and have rocked Celtics/Sox gear and have cheered when we make a good play. No one has ever said anything beyond maybe gentle ribbing
At game 3 last night, in the restroom a guy was wearing a Lakers jersey, waiting in line - a mob of Celtics fans - presumably drunk were chanting Lakers suck and Kobe sucks, completely in his face, pointing, etc. Guy remained stoic - personally I would have left the lav... then someone threw a beer at him. I left before there was a fight, but given the lack of security, I assume one went down. classy Boston
second incident, a few sections over a Lakers fan pumped his fist when they scored and a Celtics fan punched him. Zero provocation. Super classy.
Last one, leaving the game, 2 guys with Lakers jerseys are trying to walk down the stairs and are assaulted by another mob of presumably drunken Boston fans - this is on the stairs, pretty dangerous place to get into it... stay classy Boston
when you buy a ticket to a game, you're paying to cheer your team and tolerate those around you. Of course no one likes an opposing fan cheering, but they have a right to. Just cheer louder. But fights in the stands are just stupid. I truly felt embarrased to be a Celtics fan last night, because of the treatment of others...
Did Doc include this in his letter to the league?![]()
