Falcons | Animal control officer confident Vick was at dog fights
    Tue, 15 May 2007 21:07:23 -0700

ESPN.com reports investigators do not agree with Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick that he was rarely at the Virginia house he owned where officials have found evidence of dog fighting. Vick also said he never took part in the practice, but the animal control coordinator for the City of Chesapeake in Virginia told Yahoo.com she has spoken with individuals who can "put Vick on that property" during matches. Kathy Strouse, the animal control coordinator, says she is "very confident" that Vick will be tied directly to the dog fighting on the property, and has challenged Surry County Commonwealth attorner Gerald Poindexter to bring charges. "He [Poindexter] was at the home and saw the equipment that we seized. When we were there, he said he had enough right there to issue an indictment. He didn't say who he would indict, but he said he had enough," Strouse said. Strouse indicated that the individuals who can place Vick at the scene have been reluctant to testify. An investigator told WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Va., that a meeting has been requested with Poindexter to review evidence, but Poindexter said that they have not requested a meeting a with him.

If it was up to me I'd get a new contract here and play the rest of my career here. I totally understand some of the things the Bears are saying. We're handling this in a real low-key fashion and that's the way we want to keep it," Brown said.

Credentialed website can use up to 45 seconds per day of audio or video of interviews or press conferences involving NFL employees, including players and coaches, as well as practice footage. The new policy also states that audio or video cannot be used live and may be archived for 24 hours. Jim Jenks, executive sports editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer and president of the Associated Press Sports Editors organization, said that media representatives met last year with NFL officials about a policy governing online content. "We would like more. But in fairness, it is a first step," Jenks said. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league was expanding access to media, "but we are also balancing news coverage vs. programming. We can't allow somebody to take our content and create a program around it unless we are licensing it."
