I will admit that I think there is no doubt he was kicked, but there is a definite debate regarding the intent... Bowen could just run goofy and have big feet... or his track record with Isiah, Ray Allen, and Vince Carter could force one to think it was a dirty play. (Jeez, I don't know if there's worse defense that having to cite those 3 pussies in an argument.)
However, unless Amare hurt his own achilles/ankle when he jumped, the TNT replays show him visibly grimace BEFORE he lands (and possibly on his way up), which means he had to feel something.
He shouldn't have said anything, but it didn't hurt the Suns when he let the Kurt Thomas thing slip, so who knows what will happen here.

I was wondering if Bruce had this "dirty reputation" before he came to the Spurs or did he get that after he came here, if so what might have caused the change in his play.
Thats pretty dirty if you ask me. It is just to much speculation to not be true at this point. Bowen has complaints from almost every player he has guarded this year for that same reason.
The complaints you hear about Raja is totally different than the ones you hear about Bowen. You ask the players they will say Bowen is dirty and Raja is physical.
They do not compare.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury;
In judging if Bruce Bowen is a dirty player or not, I ask you to put aside all the chatter driven by the complaints of a few players that are then fanned by the media and spewed to all ends of the Earth by fans of other NBA teams. To judge this correctly, we must only look at the facts of this case.
Bruce has a reputation as the best perimeter defender in the league. To this, we have no dispute. But is this widely held opinion a fact? While it is a fact in my reality, in truth it is only an opinion based upon how a majority of NBA Fans have percieved by what they think they have seen AND from what they have heard from others expressing their opinion based upon their personal perception and beliefs.
I hope we can all agree, just because an opinion is widely held, it often is not fact. The belief that the World was flat is the classic example of just how flawed human feelings and actions are affected by what they think is true. But once a "new discovery" of fact is learned and spread through humankind all the hate, bickering and name calling slip away as another sad chapter of how sad and petty all of us can be.
But based upon an analysis of fact, I do take extreme exception to the contention by anyone that Bruce Bowen is a dirty player. And here are the facts as to why I feel this way.
In his career, Bowen has played over 12,500 minutes of hard core hustling defense. Because of this, most of his minutes are going against the very best offensive players the league has to offer. With Bruce's defensive style, he is in the grill of his man for over 50 seconds per average minute of play. This would place Bruce head to head with the top offensive players in the game for over 562,000 seconds.
The math does just not add up to Bruce being dirty. Now, we have all heard the cries of the likes of Allen, Carter, Francis and now Amare about how dirty of a player Bowen is. And we acknowledge it is fact that Karl, Thomas and loads of media and fans have said the same. But is it fact that Bowen is a dirty player? Not in a World based upon truth and rational thought.
When all the prosecuter can come up with are a combination of 5 or 6 seconds of plays out of over HALF OF A MILLION SECONDS of hard core defense, this case must be thrown out! When even those 5 or 6 seconds of "evidence" are so suspect that the league, after much reveiw, has never taken any serious action, this case must be thrown out! When you look at the charactor and motive of the accusers, this case must be thrown out!
We must judge Bruce on the charge of dirty play by looking at fact and not fantasy driven by jealosy, hate and ignorance. To rational thinking people, it should be as clear that Bruce is not a dirty player, as it is to all of us today that the World is round.
