ALL ON THE SPURS. Honestly who here can say we're getting outplayed???? The Spurs are just not focusing for a full game. SOMETHING, SOMETIME has to give, to wake these MOFO's up. WILL THIS BE IT?
The End of the regular season and the playoffs where games actually count for something.

    oh wait.

Weren't the Spurs down by double digits just a few minutes ago??? it...it's a loss, but by a lot less than I thought...
moral victories, if you're up one, you go for the win. The Bowen excuse is weak. We had them.

this game. It was a waste.

At this time of year spurts aren't enough... they need to be dominating for whole quarters to beat good teams. That's SPAM.

I haven't given up, but this team looks too old and slow, along with the lack of ref respect for Tim and the ugly Western conference... it all adds up to an even-year to me. That's my rational take. if I was a ble to have "faith" in anything, I'd say Spurs all the way, but I struggle with the concept of faith.
Tim doesn't get the respect anymore...i agree with that They can hustle him they want but, he's breathing the opponent-it's a foul.

his FT trips to the line has diminished so much this season...Maybe I'm just imagining it though ..well

I think there's good to take from this even if the Spurs lose. They survived a drought in the late 3rd and early 4th and rallied to get back into the game in an extremely hostile environment under some very difficult cir stances.

Moral victories don't mean a damned thing, but there are at least some signs that this team can compete with the other big boys under any cir stances. And they are undoubtedly built for the playoff grind more than for the withering pace of an impossible March schedule.
    Thank you.

Let's be sure to start another thread about how it's all Finley's fault. He was the only one missing shots and playing no D.
Yeah 3-6 is "the only one missing shots"

Timothy Duncan shooting 9 of 23 is pretty significant.

But what the , you guys have your whipping boy, don't get off him now.

You're right. But I saw a lot of bad things that have been a trend the whole season. Offensive droughts, predictable offense, soft defense, bad turnovers at critical times, etc.

Spurs are better built for the playoff grind than another other Western Conference team, I'll give you that. But, I fear that age of the role players is finally catching up.

I'm surprised Pop decided to go with Horry for so long in the 2nd half and leave out Kurt Thomas.

    Good game guys! Always fun.

The rebounding numbers are ugly for the Spurs tonight.

    Det: 51 (22 offensive)
    SA: 39 (12 offensive)

A little concerning ... especially when the Pistons aren't necessarily known as a great rebounding team. Dice got off for 17 boards, and Theo had 7 (including 5 offensive).

And while I'm sure most of you are upset with the play and the loss, remember you were w/out Bruce and Ime. And that allowed Rip and Tay to both be big factors tonight.

I was surprised to see Manu be such a non-factor in this game. He was looking for the 3ball too much tonight. Only 10 shot attempts, and 5 of them from 3. And Timmy's #'s at first glance may look good (20 & 10), he was also a poor 9-23 shooting. And had 4 TO's.

I wouldn't be too concerned though. I fully expect the Sporks to be one of the final 2 or 3 teams alive in the West.

Hopefully both our squads make it to be the big show once again!

You're not going to win giving up 22 offensive rebounds and getting outrebounded 51-39. Still, they made a game of it more than I expected, and I like the way they climbed back up from the hole. Props to Tony for showing up big tonight. And for Tim stepping up in the 4th.

    Manu sucked.

Finley is the only reason the Spurs had the lead at the half.

    Genius Spurstalk, pure genius.

    The rebounds are explained easily.

2 best win defenders out, forced to play zone, you play zone you give up rebounds.

    That simple.

these single-digit, low-double-digit qtrs aren't gonna get it done. The Spurs offense has been really sucking, too many games in the 30%s and low 40%.

Me. I think we're getting outplayed. I think everyone on the team is trying their guts out because they know how crucial these games are, but lack of footspeed and energy (related to old age) are letting them down.

This team is too old, a step slow, and that causes matchup problems, probs on the boards, and fewer hustle plays. It is covered up against poor teams because smarts overcome age against them, but against good teams with more energy we get exposed. Pity, I thought this was the deepest Spurs team I'd ever seen at the start of the season...

I'm not blaming him. Just getting a head start on what all the Finley haters will say and predicting we'll have new threads dedicated to him for that purpose.

Agreed. I hate losses in the worst way, but it's hard to argue the effort here tonight.
