this was an underrated draft. Hill has been amazing. Hairston has potential. Gist is the only question mark but he made himself a fanbase in the summer of 08.

Likewise, the reason I love Spurs boards is that after years of our FO picking productive no-names, posters still burst into apoplectic fits when they don't get name players despite knowing nothing about the depth of scouting involved or even the outcomes of preliminary test practices.

My favorite line by far is when somebody wrote that George Hill was taken because the FO had no back-up plan after losing Batum to Houston. I mean... seriously? A bunch of casual basketball fans who fancy themselves encyclopedic authorities know better than people whose job is to make championship squads on a shoestring budget? Hubris is awesome

Put me on the "I was a dumbass" list.

I thought the Spurs could have taken Mario Chalmers or CDR, and still picked up Hill in the second round. Because nobody was going to snap him up ahead of those other guys, right?

I'm glad they didn't take any chances with missing him in the draft. I guess my career as a scout is over before it began.

I was totally clueless about him. I was looking more at Chambers after his performace in the NCAA Finals. His pick took me completely by surprise. Once again the FO came through and now we get to reap the benefits!
