Quotes from the legal guardian of DE Sione Teuhema and 2015 OL Maea Teuhema (24/7). The brothers were in Norman over the weekend and are scheduled to be at A&M on Wednesday followed by a trip to LSU this weekend:
“We've told all of the schools recruiting the boys that we're not committing anywhere at least until after spring football,” Taliaferro said. “Right now we're trying to get to as many places as possible, get as much information as we can and then make the best decision.”
“I think they'll wind up going somewhere that's within a drive from home,” Taliaferro said. “Based on what we're looking for, and on the schools we've visited, Texas is probably the best fit we've found so far.”
“The fact that they (Texas) didn't take an end last year really helps them,” Taliaferro said. “Then the fact that the coaches have mentioned a few times that Sione is the same size Brian Orakpo was really has him excited. He knows he can go to Texas and if works hard he can be a stud.”
“We've got a top-five in mind right now,” Taliaferro said. “Let's just say that Texas is way up there.”
According to 24/7, CB Jermaine Roberts of New Orleans, LA is scheduled to be in Austin on Friday and a commitment is not out of the question. See the quote below from his high school teammate, DT Courtney Garnett:
“We'll see (about Jermaine committing),” Garnett said laughing. “I don't want to spill anything on that just yet.”
A few quotes from LB/S Edwin Freeman of Arlington Bowie (24/7):
“The Texas visit was exciting,” Freeman told Hookem.com. “I had a really good talk with the Texas coaches and some of the Texas players. They made me feel very welcomed and explained a lot of stuff to me. It was a really good visit overall.”
“I liked what I saw from the coaches and players when I was there. They looked really good. It was intense for sure. I think they’re going to be very good real soon,” he said.
“Right now my top three is still the same,” said Freeman. “It’s Texas, Texas A&M and TCU in that order. Those are the only three I’m considering and I’ll pick from one of those toward the end of spring. I definitely want to make a decision before summer begins. I want it out of the way.”
Also from 24/7, LB Otaro Alaka is expected to end his recruitment this week and Texas is thought to be his final choice.
According to a press release from his high school, LB Andrew Beck of Tampa, FL will be announcing his college decision tomorrow night. That's about three months earlier than he had originally planned so this can be looked at in one of two ways, imo. He just returned from an unofficial visit to Stanford this weekend and he really, really liked his visit -OR- the Texas staff has been encouraging of him to jump on board now if LB Otaro Alaka is close to joining the mix. LB/S Edwin Freeman has also been giving them good vibes so that position is filling up quickly. Florida State seems to be the sleeper pick based on geography.
OrangeBloods saying Alaka is scheduled to meet with his high school coach this evening, so a commitment could come tonight.
More quotes from the newest Texas commitment, DT Courtney Garnett (24/7):
“I think that's the best fit for me,” Garnett said of Texas. “I've been other places and I've gone through the process. With Texas and Coach Bo, I feel it's the best fit for me.”
“He (Bo Davis) did a great job recruiting me,” Garnett said. “He gave me a first-hand take on how it's going to be when I get there. He just made everything real comfortable for me."
“My mom and dad really enjoyed it at Texas,” Garnett said. “I know it's a great place for me and now they feel like it's a great place, too.”
“I couldn't be happier,” Garnett said. “I picked a school that was the best for me and it's a great program. Now I'm going to move on from here, not worry about it anymore and hopefully everything will fall into place.”
2015 QB/ATH JW Ketchum of Fort Bend Marshall discusses his development as a QB and his Texas offer (24/7):
“I feel I've got a lot to prove,” Ketchum said. “As you progress on it's only going to get better, so we'll see what happens.”
“For the first time back out in a while working my mechanics, I felt great,” Ketchum said. “I feel like I did great and I feel great doing it.”
“It was great to get the (Texas) offer,” Ketchum said. “It's close to the house and it's a big-time D-1 school.”
“It was a great visit,” Ketchum said. “The food was good. They made you feel good and made me feel at home. It was great.”
“The compare me to the [Vince Young] fit,” Ketchum said. “The offense looked good and I think it'll be a nice fit.”
“I sure could (see myself at Texas),” Ketchum said.
CB/S Tony Brown, S Jamal Adams and S Edward Paris are other familiar names that received invites to The Opening.
Bobby Burton seems to think Stanford for Beck.
If a prospect doesn't have his commitment timeline set in stone and then decides to shut down his recruitment after an unofficial visit, it's usually a good sign for that school. Beck would be a great fit at Stanford so it's not a surprise if this one goes that way. Of course, Beck called Texas his "dream school" so that usually means we're fu**ed from the get-go.
LB Otaro Alaka has told OrangeBloods a decision will be made tonight.
Heard he was one of the guys at A&M's Friday Night Lights that really didn't appear to be that into it. Will be surprised if he does not pick Texas.
alaka has always wanted texas but seemed a bit peeved at a delayed offer. that being said, i think he is over it and will commit to UT as well
Yeah, Alaka will pick Texas. No surprise there.
Nice pickup.
My fam that is being recruited was at FNL and said the event resonated with some guys and he put Myles G in that group. He's hung with MG before at events and indicated to me previously he thought MG would end up at TCU b/c promise of playing time and playing opposite D Fields. He thinks after event it is possible A&M leads.
I think A&M is in a good spot with Garrett. I think he's planning on taking awhile though. I've heard he still wants to visit Bama. I also think A&M sits in a good spot with Whitley as well but he's also planning to drag out the process a little.
If I had to guess the next commit it would probably be Jarrett Johnson, Kevin Shorter or Koda Martin.
Edmond, OK. QB Justice Hansen Will also choose between OU and A&M in the very near future. I think it will be hard to pry him from home but we will see which Spring game he decides to attend this weekend.
Good footage of QB Jerrod Heard at the Elite 11 regional in Dallas this weekend. Hopefully y'all can see it:
