I doubt it would be the only reason if it meant 80 million extra to stay with spurs also knowing pop might retire in 2020 I would stay

This whole thing started in January. I heard from someone the Spurs were strongly considering trading Kawhi and had the go ahead to do it. They obviously didn't like the offer or preferred to keep him to see if they could fix the relationship. Kawhi was supposedly causing issues in the locker room. He apparently went and had dinner with Pop and Murray and never really spoke. The Spurs were at that time trying to patch things up already.

Now we know per Woj that it was indeed the Celtics who offered the Spurs some sort of package for Kawhi. This relationship was broken for a long time. Parker's comments may have added more hurt feelings or whatever, but it's not even a reason why he's leaving.

Things can be worked out, but Kawhi wants the supermax. The Spurs don't wanna offer it until they get the medical information from his doctor or something like that. Kawhi and his group say they will give the Spurs that info once they are given that supermax.

That's how I have understood everything told to me.

They said Parker's comments were the final straw, which implies there were already other issues. So even if true Parker's comments wouldn't be fully to blame. Also I don't get why Spurs would question his medical information when their team doctors cleared him months ago.
