This league and it's revisionist history. Now the media is pretending S bag is some dynasty slayer, as if the Heat were a dynasty or his souped up Bowen ass was anything close to a superstar back then. First is was the genius who received the majority of the credit for that, now suddenly it's him. Never the biggest 3.

The Warriors don't even deserve the dynasty distinction. They've yet to win a legit championship (the Raptors will join them in the ranks of asterisk champions), have only been on this run for 5 years and are more than likely a game away from capping this run at 3 in 5, aka the best the Spurs ever managed. Funny how the media was split on whether they were a dynasty following that, but didn't hesitate to anoint the Warriors prematurely.

    Not even close.

I don't get this narrative that if Durant comes back and they win the championship, it'll prove they needed him all along.

The '19 Warriors aren't the same as the previous iterations. This one is banged up beyond him, fatigued, paper thin and in some cases, in decline. This team needs him to beat the Raptors (probably would have for the Bucks and even Rockets, full series).

If we reverse engineer this though, the other iterations probably wouldn't have. That's not to say they'd have automatically won the previous 2 championships or this one anyway, but they were at least capable of beating any other team during those seasons and likely would have been favored too.
The media and the league with Lebron now being out is desperate for ratings. They are also looking for new face of the league candidate. I don't think #2 can be that guy but they are going to throw ton of mud at the wall and hope it sticks. They will also do this with other stars in the future that get to the finals to see if they have potential to be rating generators. Currently it's not working with #2 since the ratings throughout the series has been terrible.

    You said it best, tbh...

Which means the series really boils down to who do you hate more. Durant or Leonard? I hate Durant more for joining a 73 win team and ruining the league, so I'd hate him being "vindicated" and seeing everyone forget the massive choke job he had in Game 6 of the 16 WCF. So begrudgingly, Go Raptors. Leonard ed the Spurs over but Durant ed the game over.

Got damn it. It's literally picking our poison at this point.

I'm leaning toward your way of thinking, tbh. Durant getting 100% vindicated would be such a terrible outcome. At least Danny gets another ring if the Raptors win...

I want the Warriors to lose. Toronto is in the East so we don’t have to deal with them. Warriors being in the west is the team we want ed. Once they lose, they have some very interesting off season choices. They lose Boogie. Iggy and Livingston are done. Do they max out Green or let him walk? Is Green even worth the Max now that he’s a ty defender. Plus they are in cap . This dynasty is over once Durant loses

Durant left as an unrestricted free agent and made a decision to leave OKC to ring chase with the Warriors. He didn’t his team over by hiding From them in NY and stealing a years worth of salary while forcing a trade. Not a fan of either but would rather see Leonard blow a 3-1 lead in this series.

The fact that it turns back in Durant’s favor is just ridiculous.

How much ing help do the Warriors need? They won 73 games without him. They won a ring without him. They have a two time MVP, the 1a and 1b best shooters in the game. A defensive hound in Draymond. If they weren’t good enough to ring again without him, then tough . But nooooo, Durant had to ruin the entire league with one move and add his talents to an already great team. Now he’s going to get credit when he’s the mental midget that ran to them to save his career.

The Warriors were great, but were also always flaky mentally which is how they blew a 3-1 lead, and why I said the league had already caught up to them. Them adding Durant just stacked the deck so far in their favor, nobody could overcome it. Yes, they technically “needed” each other, but together they ruined the league and created an unfair advantage that has never been seen before.

They problem is, as time goes by, people forgot how absolutely ridiculous it was for Durant to join them, and it feels like they were always together which is far from the truth. Durant being on the Warriors is still as stupid today as it was when he signed 3 years ago.

I will never ever root for that team.

This is a exactly what so many on this board keep alluding to and why so many of us are pissed. We don’t have proof, but have seen the behavior of PATFO for years that matches this theory. The injury mishandling just broke the camels back.

The “culture” signings to the detriment of the team are a real thing. And Pop himself said he would prefer Kawhi to only average between 22-24 points a game. Who ing does that to their superstar?! Tim and Manu were an anomaly. With all the winning, Pop got drunk on his ability to get them to do whatever he wanted.

He doesn’t care about winning as much anymore as many on this board can see from a mile away. It’s all about “muh culture” these days.

The guy and his ego have just become bigger than the team and nobody has the balls to tell him to straighten the up or retire. He shouldn’t be fired because of his legacy. But he should be strongly urged to retire.

I root for the San Antonio Spurs, not the San Antonio Pops.

Sure KL bent Pop and everything the Spurs built for the last 20+ years, but why would anyone (outside of warrior fans) want to see the those s ring again???

Until Zaza we were definitely the #1 threat of taking down the Dubs

I still think they win in 2017, but it would have been closer than folks would have thought. I do believe that but for that Clippers loss we win in 2015. Warriors were still green.

We actually matched up the warriors extremely well in 2015. I remember blowing them out in one game and winning a early season game against them with our bench. It would have been the same story in 2016 before timmy's knees died.

It's better to root for kawhi and hope he chokes next year. He didn't exactly defend the 2015 or 2016 le runs well. This run is probably the easiest he could ask for as he won't be blamed for falling short, and several raptors players are overachieving.

The Spurs suffered from Parker having to guard superior guards and the bigs being week.n currently Toronto is winning all of it's match ups. There is no pressure on kawhi. Teams will be ready for him next year and the raptors still streaky Lowery, tosb Gasol, and weak van fleek. He's been stopped before and it's mostly in his head and quad. Maybe he's a top 20 all time player or maybe he's just been in two lucky runs in between other dynastys.

The best thing for the Spurs is to pretend that kawhi left work on mutual good terms. People will assume it's like Durant and just free agency.

why are people comparing the 2019 Warriors with Durant out, Klay Thompson missing a game, no bench, Iguodala being significantly worse and Livingston becoming a complete scrub to the 2017 version?

It still completely blows my mind that he joined that team. Your former team was up 3-1 On them in the conference finals. And due in large part to your lousy play you did not advance to the NBA finals. And you run and hook up with that team in the off-season? Who the does that? Not a compe or. Not somebody that has an appreciation for the history and legacy of great players that won championships. It is to this day and probably always will be the most pathetic move I’ve ever seen any player make in the history of the NBA. The media is the media. Most of the bull they spew means nothing in terms of how they evaluate somebody’s legacy. But all time great players past and present. They don’t respect what he did.

Nah. 6 was waaay darker for me, tbh. Thank God we won the next year, though. I probably would've never recovered if we didn't.
