Key TO? The one to Billups in the last seconds? The game was already over, and it wasn't his fault - no-one helped and he was being trapped.

In generally he's not been very good, I agree, but he penetrated at will in the 1st and 4th today which tells me he's on the right track. And when he regains his jumper, watch out.
In that instance he needs to not be a dumbass and call a timeout or throw it off another player out of bounds. I am never one to complain about the Spurs and I always try to be optimistic but c'mon, they seriously have their heads lodged firmly up their asses.

I didn't get to watch the game tonight, but the team has obviously played very poor basketball the last two games. Thankfully, their schedule is moderately easy going into January. I'm hoping that they can right the ship and get on course, especially Tony and Manu.

He did penetrate really well in the 4th, but he was also trading baskets with lawson. His defense was pretty bad....
Parker did his job, he kept his man in front of him, Dice/Blair did not do their jobs as the last line of defense.

No the other one, on the trap with 2:30 or so to go, the same mistake he made in the 3rd quarter

The lack of execution on offense and the lack of cohesion to get defensive rebounds were exposed in this game. Even though it as a tough loss, it's still early in the season and these kinds of bad plays are expected!
    Exactly.

It's disappointing and frustrating, but we're still less than 20 games into the season. Most teams don't hit their stride until at least 20 games in.

If we'd been blown out by Boston and the Nuggets, I'd be a little concerned, but we played both of them close and lost the game with silly errors that will disappear as the season goes on and team chemistry builds.

What concerns me about this game is how to stop Melo. He hit about 6 ridiculously difficult shots tonight and made it look easy.

38 vs 31 for Nuggets. 11 off rebounds killed us tonight

i think he talks about the one before which was decisive indeed.

but tony and tim were the reason we can call it a game. tony had too many TO and tim not enough rebounds, but still they were great on offense, very efficient.

we seem to lack a little bit of everything. i can't say we're terrible in a thing but not good enough in a lot of different areas.

The offense is running well with TP driving and TD in the post. People don't like it, want ball movement etc etc but what still works the best is what has always worked the best for the spurs.

inserting blair into that last play was kind of perplexing. why would popovich throw a rookie who had only play 12 minutes in the game into the fire like that? if pop wanted offensive rebounding, mcdyess would have been a better option.

Bowen has nothing to do with unforced turnovers, out of sync offense and not being able to get a crucial ing rebound (this alone should make anyone's blood boil)
When three Spurs players going for the board crash into each other and the ball spills out, which is what happened, what can you do but put your hands on your head and look to the sky? The effort was there, they just ed it up!

Yeah, it's the 3rd year that the Celtics are playing together and Denver are really good since last year's playoffs. Melo elevated his game this season and has been unstoppable so far.

We added lots of pieces (RJ, Dyess, Blair) this year and injuries didn't help (Tim, Manu, TP, Mason). We'll be much better after the All Star Break

I agree with that, maybe TP is thinking too much to get others involved that's why so many TOs

I don't want TP thinking about others, he' not that type of player, I want to see him attacking all the time.

Yeah, some of his shots were falling tonight and he should have attacked the rim much more. Melo is not a very good defender and he would have been at least tired on offense or in foul troubles.

Where were you all when I was pushed for Jax weeks ago before he got traded to the Bobcats?????? Now everyone will take Jax back. I was told I was an idiot . The great Eric B with his great insight.

Anyway let's give Manu some time like you said. You don't have to explore trading him right now.

If we do consider trading Manu how about we force the other team to take RJ? We could just say hey if you want Manu you gotta take RJ too.

I wonder if the Bobcats would do a Manu and RJ for Wallace and Jackson trade? Hopefully they keep losing up until the trade deadline .

I don't think Manu has lost it though. Give him some time.

The spurs FO will NEVER get rid of Manu in the midle on a season!!! never!
It would be such a lack of respect regarding all he gave to the club...

Don't know which threads, but I definitely posted about being happy to take Jax back (although I also doubted it would happen since Pop would probably baulk, and we don't hav much the Warriors would want).

As for Manu, I think we can properly assess his health in about 10 games, but we should be quietly feeling out what's availbale for him if, as I suspect, we discover that he has finally lost a step (which would totally hamper his effectiveness) due to all the leg injuries and pounding he has taken over the years.

In that instance he needs to not be a dumbass and call a timeout or throw it off another player out of bounds. I am never one to complain about the Spurs and I always try to be optimistic but c'mon, they seriously have their heads lodged firmly up their asses.
There was no other player in the backcourt to pass to, and surely calling the timeout in that situation is the inballer's (Tim's) repsonsibility given that TP was running like a bat out of trying to get open.

Anthony scores 34 points, Nuggets beat Spurs
    By Paul J. Weber

Carmelo Anthony won another game for the Denver Nuggets, then parked in front of a television in the locker room trying to will the Texas Longhorns to a victory in the Big 12 Championship football game.

These days, the NBA’s leading scorer can’t lose.

Anthony scored 22 of his 34 points in the second half, and the Nuggets won their third straight with a 106-99 victory over the San Antonio Spurs to continue their best start in franchise history. Denver had trailed virtually the entire game until early in the fourth quarter, then never gave the lead back.

“For us to come in and gut this one out, it was a statement win for us,” Anthony said.

Chauncey Billups added 18 points as Denver pushed its record to 15-5 and continued the best start in franchise history. The Nuggets will continue their four-game trip Monday night in Philadelphia for a reunion with Allen Iverson, who is expected to make his 76ers return against his former team.

“If AI plays, it’s going to be a mad house,” Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin said.

Tony Parker scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth for the Spurs, who lost their second straight. Tim Duncan had 26 points as the Spurs fell to a division leader for the second time in three nights.

San Antonio had held five of its last seven opponents below 90 points, but the NBA’s highest-scoring team presented a tougher challenge. Duncan tried to match Anthony best he could, and shot 10 of 12 from the field.

The Spurs had 19 turnovers and made just 10 field goals in the second half. It was another night of sloppy play for San Antonio, which also committed 19 turnovers on Thursday in on a loss to Boston.

“Way too many,” Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. “We are a 10 or an eight (turnover team). That’s when we are at our best. A team like (Denver), they’ll punish you.”

Anthony, averaging an NBA-leading 30.4 points per game, remained the NBA’s only player to score at least 20 points in every game this season.

If he does it again Monday at Philadelphia, his streak of 21 straight games will be the most since—guess who—Iverson did it at the start of the 2005-06 season. Iverson was traded to Denver a year later, and he spent nearly two seasons with the Nuggets.

Anthony was 4 of 11 from the field at halftime and finished the game 14 of 27. He also had seven rebounds.

“I just wanted to take my time,” Anthony said. “Some of those things should have went my way in the first half, but it didn’t. I tried not to get frustrated out there.”

Martin had nine points and 13 rebounds and J.R. Smith had 17 points.

Rookie Ty Lawson scored eight of his 11 points in the fourth, when the Nuggets outscored the Spurs 31-23. The Spurs led for virtually the entire game before Smith sank a 3-pointer to open the fourth, giving the Nuggets a 78-76 lead.

Denver gradually found their touch after shooting 37 percent in the first quarter, including a rocky 2-of-7 start for Anthony.

After Philadelphia, the Nuggets will continue their road trip against Charlotte and Detroit—all teams with losing records.

The loss ended a monthlong stand in the Lone Star State for the Spurs, who haven’t left Texas in their last dozen games. San Antonio went 7-5 over that stretch and will go to Utah on Monday for its first road game since Nov. 9.

Ginobili had 14 points for San Antonio, and Richard Jefferson added 10.

NOTES: Spurs F Antonio McDyess has not scored in the last three games. … Spurs F Michael Finley sprained his left ankle in the fourth and did not return. If he misses Monday’s game at Utah, it will be the first time in 335 games that Finley has missed a game to injury. It last happened in November 2005.
