Why are u guys constantly cutting down the mavericks and their fans. You guys dont like it when we say the spurs are boring so why would u say the same thing about another team.
why are you here in the first place? the le of this forum doesn't say MAVSTALK does it?? i must be in the wrong place to assume we actually speak of the SPURS here with all these ers cheering for the mavs to win it all in 06.

ps: the mavs might be the champs this year but i'm already looking forward to the buildup of next years first game vs the mavs.... should be interesting to see who the SPURS pickup during the off season and how much of a factor these new guys will be. i'm also glad finley will be back to slam it one more time in the mavs face!

ABC's suckage goes deeper than that. NBC did a ton of research for its broadcasts that we as viewers took for granted, so that when something happened during the game, they could show a graphic with the germane stat, or the clip of something that happened during the season that relates to the game, or they could arm the announcers with the right set of facts to add background and perspective to the events unfolding. Imagine how much background work goes into that, since there's no way to know what's going to unfold on the live telecast.

TNT does it too. Did you ever sit back and think why the TNT NBA experience is so much more fulfilling than the ABC/ESPN broadcast? They're both showing the game with the same camera angles, right?

ABC doesn't do that, and there's no excuse, given that ABC Sports is run by "The Worldwide Leader in Sports." And now that there's no chance of a major-market dynasty during the duration of this TV deal, they've stopped trying.

CBS did a better job 20 years ago with a fraction of the resources. ABC.
It's borne out in the ratings. While some Mavs fans are celebrating that the Finals ratings have gone up slightly this year, the ratings are still much, much lower than they were for any NBC-broadcast Finals.

Yea the reason the ratings aren't much higher this year is because the games aren't very close. Although as a mavs fan i'm not complaining a win is a win.

Well, in spite of the fact that I'm a Spurs fan, I must admire the way that the Mavs have handled the Heat so far in the finals. They have demonstrated a large arsenal of weapons and an adequate defense. At this point, I have to admit that the Mavs are a better team than the Spurs this year. The Spurs need to take care of business this offseason----acquire a decent, mobile center, and a reliable, backup point guard---so that they can compete with Dallas next season.
I am not ready to say that. It took an OT in Game 7 for the Mavs to win, despite the fact that the Mavs supporting cast is absolutely catching fire throughout the playoffs, and the Spurs committing unforced errors at the end of a few games.
The Spurs have room for improvement, but it is nothing drastic. As long as they can find a good perimeter player in the mold of Bruce Bowen, and a smart, efficient PG that can shoot, not unlike a young Steve Kerr, there will be years of dominance.
The Mavs have a very bloated payroll, and it would be interesting to see how Cuban will react to paying ridiculous amounts of $ to keep role players.

Game 1 was quite compe ive, and besides, how would they know that the game will not be close until after they have watched it?
The ratings are low exactly the same reason why the Finals with the Spurs are low - they are not! It's just that the Bulls and the Lakers series have high ratings. This is normal.

1st of all, if Terry plays in game 6, we're not even talking about game 7. 2nd of all. Dallas had more fouls called on them in games 1,2,5,6 and 7. So Spur's fans need to quit in about refs. Dallas too, made crucial mistakes in that series that prevented them from winning in 5 or even 4. In the 1st game, Damp had Duncan blocked out in the box for an easy layup, but instead Stack tries to make a miraculous shot in the final seconds. In game 5, Terry had plenty of time to set his feet and shoot the ball more accurately. Instead, he rushes it and the ball bounces out in which Dirk could have grabbed it, came down, and simply placed it back up. No, Dirk tries to bat it back in. There was plenty of time. In game 6, Dallas was home, they had a fantastic start in the ist half, but ran out of options with Terry not there. Thus, resulting in Harris having his worst perfomance in the entire playoffs and ultimately costing Dallas their game 6 victory. SA does NOT win that game if Terry plays. So consider yourself lucky and realize that the better team won it in 7 and could have won it in 4 or 5 had they executed last second plays a little better.
As far as payroll goes, Dallas only needs to resign Terry next season. Everyone else is locked for at least 2 more yrs. we're not worried about KVH. He will probably be replaced by a younger more athletic PF. Don't worry, Dallas ain't going anywhere anytime soon. What will be interesting...is what SA will do with all of their contracts locked down with a bunch of 30+ year olds? They have no 1st rounder. Nothing. They will still be old, in fact, older next year.
While u guys will have to sit and watch Howard ,Diop, Harris and Daniels get even better next year. Keep ur head up!

Hi, I'm Reality. Have we met?

I love how Mavs fans really believe their team is VASTLY superior to the Spurs. They were better than the Spurs -- this year. That is all. There is no way in the Mavs would have SWEPT that series.

I've even read posts on MavTalk with the word "dynasty". Get real.

I dont think are team is superior to the spurs outside of this one year, and i think what you read on mavtalk is that the mavs have potential to make a dynasty because all of their core players are so young.

The fact is the mavs are younger so I see them being better than the spurs next year. The spurs offense will be close to the same but their defense will get worse with players like Bowen, Horry, and Finley aging. San Antonio needs to get younger with their role players to get ahead of Dallas.

Damn, I'm good. Look for a blowout of the Heat in game 2 since the Mavs will play MUCH better on the Offensive end once Dirk gets comfortable with his defenders and Avery makes their adjustments. Heat can't play any better than the 1st quarter and if Dirk doesn't make that bonehead inbounds play where Walker hits the 3, they are only up 5 or less going into the 2nd. 24-2 bench points, look for that to continue. Heat perimeter defense is freaking terrible, slow and mismatched, look for that to get worse. Pat Riley's adjustments? Doesn't have any, except to play Derek or Shandon Anderson, 2 more streaky shooters. Aj's adjustments? Too many to list...Ballgame.
Well anyone else want to doubt my predictions on how these games will go? I guess I could just go the opposite of whatever "Spurologist" says will happen since he is always wrong. You must have gotten your degree in "Spurology" from Lincoln tech, maybe the ITT ins ute? LoL! Give me a break! It's clear to everyone who the better team is, and its by far the Mavs. Like I said earlier, this championship was decided a few weeks back in San Antonio, the rest is formality. This series will be as hard as the Mavs make it on themselves. If they compete anywhere near where they are capable, 20 point blowouts ensue. Tonight though, this is a trap game that the refs and crowd will attempt to "will" their team to victory. I expect Shaq and Wade to get every call known to mankind. And even some not known. Straight Duncan treatment tonight. Even so, the mavs will hang close but I expect a few phantom calls in the 4th, paving the way for the Heat to eek one out. 92 - 89. This will be their only win of the series as even I subconciously bought into all the ESPN 24 hour Shaq/Wade hype machine prior to game 1 and overestimated the Heap. They are straight garbage.

I expect to see many technicals called tonight. Shaq wouldn't even speak after game 2, so if things aren't going his way, he'll throw a tantrum. Payton will increase his smack talk and grinning(showing his age by the length of his teeth) just in hopes of picking a fight. The refs will give heat the win tonight.

If we're going to play the "only if" game, I can just as easily make a case that the Spurs could have won that series in 5 "only if" there had been a couple of things different. To steal your conclusion, if the Spurs had executed last second plays a little better, they could have won that series in 5 as well.

Are you talking about the other song or the TI bring em out song? I think some other poster said the other song was Phil Collins. I don't know.
