If LBJ comes and PG13 does not, I think it puts the Spurs PATFO in a jam. If Kiwi could be had by any other team than LA (his preferred destination), Boston would have poached him by now. My guess is RC doesn't like the deals he's being presented with.

Lakers will sign some vets this year on 1-year deals, and preserve their cap space for a max player. Kiwi will certainly want to join then.

Remember, RC will get bent over if he waits and tries to trade Kiwi at the deadline. Everybody and they mamma will offer yall scraps for your franchise player. The alternative? He buys a 1-way ticket to LAX next summer, only to return in a Laker uni.

Wait you think Lebron is coming over just to forfeit a year? If you think that the leverage falls to the Lakers if PG doens't come with Lebron then LOL.

I think Boston's deal won't likely change, but I don't know that it will go away either
The Spurs are smart to wait out the initial free agency open and see how it plays out with LeBron and PG13. They'll have a better sense of the market in a couple weeks and still give wheover is willing to trade for Kawhi at least a full year of value.

PG signing with OKC isn't going to strengthen the Lakers. A lot changes over a year. Remember when PG was going to sign with the Lakers when he became a free agent? Him not doing so after a pretty damn similar situation to Kawhi is somehow supposed to make Magic feel better? Isn't dude going to resign if they don't get 2 Max players this summer? It takes some mental ing gymnastics to think that PG staying in OKC makes the Laker position stronger.

If PG stays with OKC then it helps the Spurs because it convinces other teams that they would have a chance to resign Kawhi since PG like you said had an identical situation to Kawhi last year.

I'm certain Lebron, the GM wherever he goes, wants to wallow for another year to wait for Kawhi... you joking bro.
No... he's requesting, no... he's told them to collect a championship worthy team now and have that plan in place.

He ain't there to fool around with Lonzo...

Exactly. Plus Lebron isn't just going to write off a year.

If Kawhi is not traded he won't need a plane ticket to LA -- he'll be staying there all season even as the Spurs pay him.

(And no he won't be returning to SA in a Laker uni or otherwise. He'll beg off those trips due to injury. He'll never show his face in SA again.)

Windhorst on ESPN right now. Said he’s hearing from sources that Lebron is leaning heavily towards signing with LA. Said he’s meeting with Magic and Pelinka over the next 24-48 hours to sell him on playing in LA.

That's the only thing that could blow it for the Lakers.

LeBron joining the Lakers does tarnish his so-called legacy. He is never going to be MJ. The media is saying him leaving this time does not tarnish his legacy. C'mon. He ruined that by forming the Heatles. He brought one championship to Cleveland and because of that now it's okay for him to go to L.A to form another super team? Nah...this is why MJ will always be the G.O.A.T

You actually think LeBron has any interest in wasting a year playing with your lottery team full of scrubs? If he wanted to do that, he'd sign another 1+1 deal with Cleveland.

So PG decides to stay, how does that effect offers including Lakers and other teams are offering for Kawhi? Seems like the Lakers would not give up as much if they got PG, now that they likely won't theres probably more pressure on the offer they have been holding back from on Spurs demands?

...and LOVES LA. We'll see if he signs...
He will. That's not where the drama is, at all.

This is all about Kawhi's movement. And more importantly, when.

I can confirm that what Bill Simmons said about Kawhi seeing several doctors is true. Wasn't told if it was 7 or 8, but he did go see several doctors.
