I have family that has lived in Alaska for most of my life. I can assure you that "new-kew-lar" is not the regional pronunciation.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I expect the people I vote into office to be smarter than I am and better equipped than I am to deal with our nation's problems.
I wouldn't give Palin the time of day if she was a Democrat or a Republican. She fails on just about any standard I can think of.

These debates are all about grabbing people in the middle. Who cares if someone drowning in elephant juices came away from this debate even more convinced that Palin is the ? It's irrelevant. What is important is to attempt to gauge how people in the middle were swayed by little comedic reliefs like this debate.

I actually thought Palin made a great point when she brought up that all Biden wanted to do is blame Bush and look in the past, when America needed to move forward with new leadership.
Some other Biden "highlights"
* Saying Iran was a long way from a bomb, then in a response to Palin's counter saying that Iran was on the march to a bomb in the near future. WTF?
* Suggesting judges should be able to adjust principle amounts on loans. Uh, yeah, that will do WONDERS for the credit markets
* Trying to claim the moral high ground for Obama on legislation about Fannie/Freddie two years ago, when it's been fact checked already that McCain was the one who first rolled out a bill in 2005.
* We get it, you want to blame everything on Bush and Republicans. Fine, but don't turn around and say you and Obama are going to make it peace, love, and bipartisanship in D.C. Hypocrite.
I actually give both candidates a pass on going back to old topics as part of their answers. I don't think the 2 minutes/1 minute rebuttal format lent itself to them being able to completely finish what they had to say, and both went back to prior questions a couple of times to finish their response. Standard debating technique.

Again. One syllable word. If she pronounced one syllable or the other in nuclear differently then ok, you'd be right. But she changes the damn word.

Trust me, her not being able to pronounce nuclear is the smallest of my objections to her performance tonight. My favorite moment was when she wouldn't answer a bankruptcy law question. She decided she wanted to talk about energy instead. Ridiculous.
Because not only has she only been there since 2006, the size of a state you Governor (and in terms of Alaska the geographical location) and the relavence it has within the United States are pretty ing important.
Being Governor of the largest state for 2 years is remarkably different than being Governor of the 47th largest state.
So let's assume your response as typical will be:
"So you're saying only Governors of the largest state are equipped to run for VP or P."

I think it drives home the point -- a reasonable one at that -- that there's little substantive difference between McCain and Bush; and we've all seen the results of Bush policies.

She knows how to correctly pronounce nuclear. She is pronouncing it "nu-ku-lur" on purpose to appeal to the GWB base.
