Make up days are weak. ing districts and their money.
yeah, it's President's Day and Battle of the Flowers. I remember a few years ago when we had a weather day and they had to go on Memorial Day.
This hour delay is kind of dumb.
I think that's greatness. That's what I would have doneLooks like I may get to on Friday or Saturday.
I wouldn't send my kids to school on Memorial Day, that's really ty...
It didn't even snow. This is bull . Well, falling ice is kind of cool. Seriously, though, most people are probably going to attempt to return to work tomorrow which inevitably means accidents galore. Fun stuff.
FYI, model runs do indeed show more winter weather for us next week. I'm not sure I buy it yet, but thats why they show.
When do they predict another ice storm(if there is one)? I have a Dr appt that I have to rescedule and I actually want to make it to the Dr office.
While you can choose to fault the districts for the make-up days they select, it's not their fault they have to have them. The state mandates that "X" days of instruction be delivered come , high water, snow, or ice. So if school is called off for any reason, the districts are forced to make the day up.
Back home in Nebraska, the school districts always have a 5-day padding on the school schedules to account for snow days, so only in the worst winters would their have to be any makeup days.
FYI, the models are still showing next Tuesday to be an interesting day.
A COUPLE OF SHORT-WAVES DROP SOUTH
ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN AND SOUTHWESTERN STATES SUNDAY NIGHT. MODEL
CONSENSUS NOW SHOWS THE STRONGER OF THE TWO SHORT-WAVE MOVING
ACROSS THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES MONDAY AND THE PLAINS TUESDAY WHILE
THE WEAKER SHORT-WAVE CUTS OFF OVER NORTHWESTERN MEXICO. ANOTHER
COLD FRONT AND SURFACE HIGH MOVE THROUGH THE AREA EARLY MONDAY.
THIS IS A COLDER AIRMASS. POPS INCREASE BY MONDAY AND CONTINUE
INTO TUESDAY. PRECIPITATION TYPE FAVORS RAINS ON MONDAY, THEN
RAIN, SNOW, OR A MIX OF THE TWO MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY BEFORE
POPS END BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. FAIR AND COLD WITH NORTHWESTERLY
FLOW ALOFT WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY. SOME UNCERTAINTY CONTINUES
NEXT WEEK, AS SOME EARLIER MODEL RUNS SHOWED THE STRONGER OF THE
TWO SHORT-WAVES WOULD BE THE ONE CUTTING OFF OVER NORTHWESTERN
MEXICO AND ONLY MOVING SLOWLY EAST TOWARD TEXAS THE MIDDLE OF NEXT
WEEK RESULTING IN SOME AC ULATING SNOWS ACROSS PARTS OF THE
AREA. DUE TO LACK OF CONSISTENCY, FORECASTS MAY SEE MANY CHANGES
THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
Oh yeah, and if you want it to snow you might as well start up a collection for a hotel room in Corpus for LJ "Snow Malone" Ellis
A Mild Day Is Expected Sunday As The Upper Low Pulls Away And Is
Quickly Replaced By Another Storm System Digging To The West. This
Upper Low Could Bring Another Round Of Winter Precip With Model
Soundings Suggesting A Good Profile For Rain Changing Directly To
Snow After Midnight Monday. The Storm Has A Positive Tilt
Character Which Should Result In Mainly Insignificant Amounts.
However, There Is Enough Energy Such That A Small Stripe Of
Measurable Amounts Could Sweep Across Our Counties Tuesday.
Breezy Cold And Dry Weather Should Linger Into Thursday With The
El Nino Style Zonal Pattern Resuming Friday. However, Moisture
Return Should Be Too Slow To Occur For Rain To Be Considered In
The Forecast.
I hope actual snow falls this time.
