I just assumed it was a road game. SLC to LA seemed more reasonable than SLC to SA for a back to back.

Tbf I'm no expert at game threads. Just taking one for the team to counter Amused's gotry tbh.
We got ers around here starting game threads who don't even know we're in SA. No wonder we suck, freaking amateurs....#Bteam

Lots of new faces. None of the young guys; Kyle, Simmons, Dijon, Lapro, Bertans, Forbes seem like good, regular rotation-worthy players. Neither do the old graybeards, Tony and Manu. That's a question mark for over half of the team members! Pau seems up-and-down so far. Deadman has been an inconsistent but pleasant surprise. Pop will need to do some serious coaching this season. In preseason I said I would be happy if they kept the 50-win streak alive. I'd take that this season.

I just wish PATFO had been a little more prescient about putting some pieces around Kawhi.
They are not moving the ball well enough, IMO.

And all of those guys need time in the NBA... Only way you get rotation worthy players from day one is getting vets in FA, and the Spurs have their vets. They may not be carrying their load like they are supposed to, and that is a problem.
But all the young players would need to play and be relied on more, and push through mistakes to become real contributors.

Usually contending teams don't have so many rookies at the same time for a reason, at least not many that they plan to rely upon. As impatient as ppl are with them, they have barely played. It's like Pop said, "they have played a minute and a half." On nights when Manu is ting things up, Pop would be better to just go with the young players and let them push through.

I'd have gone with Kyle or Simmons and see what happened. Either they shat things up like Manu or either of them pushed through. But neither of them had as bad a game as Manu had. And IMO, but of course that is just me, Kyle needs to get going. He's not this bad of a shooter as he appears to be, and he was not this reluctant a scorer as he appears to be either. I think Pop doesn't care about him scoring bc he's playing with super high usage players, but he's also not going to help much if he doesn't get going with his own scoring.

Kids got plenty of run in the 2nd half.... IIRC, Manu didn't play at all in the 3rd and 4th quarter...

IMO, Pop probably is more concerned about getting Pau acclimated, and try not to lose too many games missing two starters... bench is going to have plenty of time to play.

We just got to enjoy the season... sometimes the team looks like a real dangerous contender, but others the eldest show that they are long in the tooth and the youngest show that they are too green. It's a balance between not letting the oldest linger without reps and getting enough playing time for the youth...

Frankly, we've looked like a dangerous contender when Kawhi and LMA have efficient games, and at least one of Patty or Simmons are playing well...

Things could change a bit once we get another defender in Danny, and we figure out what Kyle's role is going to be off the bench. Bertrans started with a kick, but the last few games he's been missing good looks. Work in progress, tbh, everything has to come together.
