SportsCenter going all out to show all the non-calls on the Spurs and all the fouls for Kawhi

Re s actually show a graphic that gives credence to his dumb logic that there should automatically be some correlation between FGAs in the paint and FTAs.

All this whining about FTs when the Grizzlies and Spurs both shot 9 FTs each in the 2nd half.

SportCenta should run a headline 'Grizzlies only turn up in time for second half'

Mentally, we do not play well with leads. I don't know what it is, but as soon as we get a big lead, Popovich starts his wizardry with the subs utions, we start holding the ball for isos while the movement stops, and our defense goes to . We play better from behind. I have no idea why

I recall Jeff Van Gundy getting fined something like 200K. That's the biggest one I recall. Anyone remember that one? What was in for? I think he was coaching in Houston at the time.
Van Gundy was fined $100k in the 2005 playoffs first round after the Mavs kept getting all the calls and Yao was in foul trouble all series.
VanGundy got that fine for pointing out something that was true. The league was in the habit of issuing "guidance" to the refs about certain violations they needed to be on the lookout for. But they showed the refs videos all of one guy. It was just like saying, "We want you to blow whistles on THIS guys tomorrow night." And so a guy who had maybe 1-2 three second violations in season would get three within a few minutes to open a game. Whether the intent was to harm selected teams, that's the effect it had.

They came down extra hard on JVG, because they didn't want that story gaining any traction. But they discontinued the practice right after that.

When you say "they discontinued the practice right after that," what are you referring to? Doing what Van Gundy said about them picking on certain violations that was emphasized to them before a a given game? Did the Van Gundy thing happen during the regular season or the playoffs?

Good playoff game to watch ... the Spurs fought back in the 4th quarter to separate themselves again after the lead went down to 5 points.

Still I always marvel at how resilient the Grizzlies are despite the obvious lack of talent. At the grindhouse, they may be able to bring that 3rd quarter intensity for 48 minutes and then it definitely will be a more close series. On the other hand, the Spurs oftentimes surprise us with much more disciplined play on the road. Hopefully we can get it done in 5 ...

From their perspective this is a Godsend. Something that brings some sizzle to a non 'sexy' matchup with a seemingly forgone conclusion. Now the next game has some heat, if not for the Memphis Fizzlies coach's tirade who would care about this next game? Tennessee will be out in mass to defend Grit and Grind this game just became a LOT more interesting to the casual fan...until the Spurs weather the storm of the first quarter and snatch the Grizz and their fan's souls when they win game 3.

Playoffs. Rockets vs. Mavs. Yao was in foul trouble all series. Dirk, meanwhile, a 90% free throw shooter, was dealt a nice parade of free throws per par. 2005-2011 was just a time in which you couldn't breathe on him without drawing the whistle. Dallas ended up winning in 7.

Danny Green game ..Also, we know Gasol probably can't play any better so any dip in production by him will HAVE to be offset by their others.

We know we have 3 players that have defended Conley well for a while (TP and yes the numbers show this, Danny and Kawhi). He's capable of having great games obviously but SA has multiple looks to throw at him.

Just have to make sure Dedmon isn't a dud, Danny will get looks and as long as TP doesn't evaporate on offense SA should be fine especially if Manu contributes any points.
    Obvious call
