Glad that Boban is having some success when he gets some minutes.

PER 30.09
14/10 in only 23 minutes vs Memphis
Is Memphis losing games on purpose. I see they're 3-7 in their past 10 games, but against the Spurs they didn't look anywhere near as bad as that record indicates.
Better than West, not just now, but last year too. He should have played more vs. OKC instead of West.
So who in our frontcourt would you replace with Boban? We have Deadmon who has been a beast and worked his way into the starting lineup, Aldridge who is having a great year defensively and has been much improved offensively since his heart condition cleared, Lee had been a workhorse on the glass and Gasol has been outstanding off the bench. Boban was fun to watch but it was mainly against 3rd stringers in garbage time.
Manu, on the other hand, has been giving meaningful minutes off the bench.
Even if Boban only had situational value, at least that means that there is some situation where he has value. Joel Anthony... no so much.
The Spurs could have taught Boban more basketball skills. And they would have given him enough minutes for him to put it into practice. But they couldn't pay him the $21M that Detroit gave him. And they aren't going to pay for that contract now, so he's not coming back. I don't know why it's even a discussion. It's enough to be happy for a guy who wore silver and black one season, and was fun to watch.
^^ Ginobili could have gone the Timmy Duncan route and taken 5 million to pursue a Championship. Instead of being a Porker and gouging 14 million to add to his 100+ million lifetime earnings.
it's TGY, nobody should give a about his statements.
that's rich coming from you
why? What have I done?
Dedmon. It's frustrating watching the Warriors be able to trot out Pachulia without having anyone to take advantage of him. The Pistons have beaten the Rockets and Grizzlies since Boban was freed and produced double doubles off the bench. So that would be what I would've done. Gasol/LMA in the starting lineup, Boban/Lee off the bench. If the Spurs are playing a team that goes small then you obviously insert Bertans in there or run LMA at the 5.
There's been lots of wings available this season for the minimum, so Manu would've been expendable.
Jordan Crawford for the minimum is a better option than paying Manu $14M....
23.4MP, 14.2ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.7apg, 48.7FG%, 38.4 3P%
Yeah I didn't include Anthony cause he's on the vet minimum. For that logic though I shouldn't have included Deadmon or Lee cause their contracts aren't comparable to what we would have had to pay Boban to stay. Totally agree that he could have developed and would have been way more valuable than Anthony if the price had been right.
I actually agree in principle but the money doesn't match. Deadmon signed on a 3 million contract, and there's no way we could have matched that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Manu's money counted against the cap so it shouldn't have had any bearing on the possibility on signing Boban over Dedmon. Although I do agree that he would have been a beast alongside Lee if the money worked and use Dedmon as a situational athletic big off the bench.
We were already over the cap and used Bird rights to sign Manu. I know TheGreatYacht knows this as it has been rubbed in his face repeatedly since last summer. Willfully spreading misinformation is bad juju. I hope his balls atrophy painfully.
Get back to getting slapped downstairs, got.
Everyone with knowledge of the cap knows Boban could've been kept. Unfortunately Buford overpaid the Mexican.
We were over the cap before Gino and didn't have Boban's Bird rights. It is what it is.
It was signing Gasol that prevented Boban. Try and keep up, dimwit.
Listen, dumb . Boban was restricted and Spurs could've matched Detroit's offer.
No matter how much you spin it without facts. Manure's awful contract cost us Boban.
Who's Jordan Crawford playing for? And are those the stats he's putting up on a minimum contract?
New Orleans. Yes he's on a minimum contract. Sucks PATFO settled with Anthony.
Under that premise, the Spurs could've signed him after they signed Manu too (since they could just match with over the cap money)... so that makes it impossible that Manu's deal cost Boban.
It's not what happened. What people suggested is that Manu should've taken the room exception (which Dedmon took), sign Dedmon with cap, after possibly asking Gasol for a discount, then matched Boban.
In the real world, the Spurs decided to part ways with Boban, sign Dedmon with the RE, and once they were over the cap, it didn't matter how much Manu made, tbh
There are some horrible posters in here tbh.
