Wow RD!!!
I have the same feeling you do.
I think LMA is here only bc no trade was favorable and he's still looking to either be traded or opt out. He's going to play well bc he wants to increase the odds for a trade or a good contract when he opts out. Spurs have the interest to make it work out to increase trade value or that failing the small chance they can convince him to stay and make it work. But it's still fresh in my mind that he wanted to be traded and he's unlikely to have just magically switched up his mind. If it is clear he will opt out to sign elsewhere, Spurs have to trade him by the deadline.
I hate to say it too, but I don't expect much out of Rudy. He may be better right now than the videos I saw of him training. But the videos I saw of him, he was really slow and didn't look like he had the explosion he used to have. I am reluctant to say much about him, bc we haven't seen him but when I heard Spurs were being cautious and held him out from open gym... It didn't give me a good feeling. His career as an elite player may be over and that is what the Spurs need to get past an elite team.
Decently quick release for a 5. Funny that he will shoot 3s but Aldridge (a much purer shooter) won't.
Great points, as for the Gay injury it might be mental as well as physical. It has to be in the back of his mind that his career could end at any moment if he pushes himself too hard.
What's Bertans been up to this off-season? Haven't heard much from him.
Exactly. More than any other elite team in the West, the Spurs are basically a total unknown.
Just gave an interview.
He's the I'm 2k18 I know that.
out of country he got sick of politics here in USA
Wilkins and Bryant were old and Jennings was pint sized and speed/quickness reliant. The best comparison, is Matthews, a player of similar age and caliber, who though clearly diminished, is still decent and presuming relative health should remain so for awhile.
Gay is likely to follow suit. It helps that he's both tall and long and can comfortably (mostly) slide up a position, which should at least somewhat mitigate the inevitable loss in athleticism.
Unless Leonard suffers a season ending injury, I doubt Aldridge is traded in season. They'll want to remain at their current level and the only possible trade I could see that would more or less do that, is Favors (if he's recovered). But they could just sign him as a replacement, so they might as well keep the higher upside player in the meantime, unless the situation turns toxic.
Sad its come to bigs shooting 3s
nice. Thanks for the article.
I think Bertans could really be the guy to have a "break-out" season. He was already good last season, but he should be more comfortable, more familiar with teammates and the system.
Green was also involved in the trade rumours. However Pop did publicly say he has not used LMA correctly and he will find better uses out of him offensively, as defensivly he has been amazing. So hopefully after their talk, things are all good. He is still very talented regardless.
I agree. I am just very skeptical of LMA.
These are parties making the best of an awkward situation. I think he'll compete and execute what Pop wants bc he's never been a cancer in the sense of sabotaging his own team, but I don't think Spurs are out of the woods with him and his pouting, or his wanting to be traded, or opting out and leaving.
Russ staying in OKC. Now Presti can trade George and Melo for scraps
Spurs talk will take them! For LMA!!!
Actually I am trolling with that one but ... LMA may still be traded. I don't even think Pop has to be happy about all that pouting.
In think it bears mentioning one of the standoffs that lasted all the offseason came to a close per realgm. Former Austin Spurs Jamychal Green got a 2 yr/17 million contract from Memphis. Kind of a bargain when they started the guy all season. JSimms got a slightly larger but similar guaranteed amount and he was a backup. But Green lost all bargaining power by being restricted. It was either that or a very small QO for a single season. If he were injured he'd be screwed. Gratz for him on the contract but it's bittersweet.
