Let me help you with your sentence there slick. "4th seed".
I'd just like to put in my 2 cents, a little late I know.
Spurs obviously have issues. I haven't seen another player step up outside of our Big Three in quite some time, it's actually sickening. Props to Barry for at least hitting that go ahead 3 pointer. Spurs are not the Spurs, I'm sure they realize it now more than ever.
Second thing, HOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY is Kobe Bryant an amazing player. I know everyone is always pimping him, but I don't think Bruce Bowen could have played any better defense on the guy yesterday. He was just making unbelievable shots like it was the easiest thing in the world. If there was any doubt who the best NBA player in the league is right now, I think he's established it. Wade has the speed and power to drive to the hole and get amazing layups and shots. Lebron has the speed and agility to muscle his way into fast break dunks...BUT Kobe not only can do both of those things, he has the sweetest fadaway I've seen in a while. I just may jump on the Kobe bandwagon after the way he's been playing this season.
(watch him go 5-26 tonight against the Mavs...)
He really is. He's the reason the Lakers are seldom ever out of a game. There have been a couple of games when Phil has taken Kobe out and semi-waved the white flag but usually, no lead is safe for opposing teams.
Kobe's as close to Jordan as any player I know of.
Kobe is playing a lot more balanced this year....some game he goes on the distributor role too much and some games he shoots too much. However these games are far from frequent and he's balanced it a lot better. Nice to see Radman hit a few big shots last night. He's slowly turning it around. Everyone thought that since Odom was out that Kobe would average 40 p/g however he's upped his assists and kept his shots per game on the level.
Seriously, that's the thing that amazed me most last night (aside from the Spurs losing). I know everyone usually debates this back and forth about Kobe being the next Jordan or is it Wade, Lebron, etc. But Kobe's game while obviously not MJ level, very closely resembles it. I seriously had some nice flashbacks to watching MJ in his young days as I watched Kobe make those crazy fadaways with Bowen right on top of him. I don't think anyone could have played better defense on Kobe last night than Bowen did, but the guy just made amazing shots.
Crazy thing is, now that he's passing and taking over games, I actually enjoy watching the Lakers play (just not against the SPurs....)
^I agree, I don't hate the Lakers anymore, I enjoy watching them play. They have excellent ball movement and of course Kobe is amazing.
What'll be interesting is how they play once they get back Lamar Odom. Cook, Evans, and Radmanavic have been playing great for them. Obviouslt incorporating Lamar back in will be an adjustment. They obviously won't win the West, but they'll give any team a long series.
