Trump Praises Late Mom On Mother’s Day But Skips Mention Of Melania

“So much of what I’ve done and so much of what I’ve become is because of my mother. I miss her a lot,” he said.

White House leakers leak about leaking

Why does this White House leak like it’s going out of style?

I reached out to some of the Trump administration’s most prolific leakers —

people who have been wonderful sources to me (and, I assume, plenty of other reporters) —

to get them to explain the draw.

    • "To be honest, it probably falls into a couple of categories,” one current White House official tells me. "The first is personal vendettas. And two is to make sure there's an accurate record of what's really going on in the White House."
    • "To cover my tracks, I usually pay attention to other staffers' idioms and use that in my background quotes. That throws the scent off me," the current White House official added.
    • "The most common substantive leaks are the result of someone losing an internal policy debate," a current senior administration official told me. "By leaking the decision, the loser gets one last chance to kill it with blowback from the public, Congress or even the President."
    • "Otherwise," the official added, "you have to realize that working here is kind of like being in a never-ending 'Mexican Standoff.' Everyone has guns (leaks) pointed at each other and it's only a matter of time before someone shoots. There's rarely a peaceful conclusion so you might as well shoot first."

A former senior White House official who turned leaking into an art form made a slightly more nuanced defense of the practice.

    "Leaking is information warfare;

    it's strategic and tactical —

strategic to drive narrative, tactical to settle scores,” the source said.

    • Another former administration official said grudges have a lot to do with it. "Any time I leaked, it was out of frustration with incompetent or tone-deaf leadership,” the former official said.
    • Bad managers almost always breed an unhappy workplace, which ultimately results in pervasive leaking," the former official added. "And there has been plenty of all those things inside this White House. Some people use leaking to settle personal scores, or even worse to attack the President, but for me it was always to make a point about something that I felt was being unjustly ignored by others."

    Be smart:
To any would-be leakers who are considering the practice, I'm also told leaking is pretty fun. Give me a call if you'd like to try it out.

Trump Broke One of His Biggest Campaign Pledges and No One Cares

Remember when Trump made all those pledges about infrastructure?

an admission on Wednesday by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders that "I don't know that there will be [an infrastructure bill] by the end of the year."

Since after this year Republicans will have presumably lost seats in Congress and maybe even lost control of the House,

she might as well have said, "RIP Infrastructure Week."

Trump's passion for infrastructure projects was a key component of the "economic nationalism" that set him apart from his fellow Republicans.

Trump had promised to come out with an infrastructure plan during the first 100 days of his administration, but by December no such plan had materialized.

Finally, in February, a plan did come out only to be pronounced dead on arrival.

Rather than spending money directly on infrastructure projects,

it mostly sought to shift costs onto state and local governments and hand out only $200 billion in grants,

a fraction of what the American Society of Civil Engineers said was needed to repair America's damaged infrastructure.

    Democrats rejected that approach, and

    since

Republicans in Congress have never given much of a about infrastructure to begin with,

    the proposal was largely ignored.

The problem was that tackling infrastructure would have

required a great deal of effort on his part.

He would have had to attract Democratic support by following through on

his promise to actually increase domestic spending,

which would mean going up against anti-government conservatives.

You're saying Trump is letting Chinese made phones that are a clear security risk back into the US as a concession in North Korea nuclear talks.

    OK.

The 50,000 foot version: ZTE is China’s biggest publicly traded telecommunications supplier, with roughly $17 billion in revenues and 75,000 employees. It makes smartphones and other electronic stuff and buys a lot of parts from US companies including Qualcomm and Micron Technology. Even Australia’s Telstra sold ZTE phones under Telstra’s brand name.

The US had fined ZTE $1.2 billion for violating US sanctions by selling product to North Korea and Iran and also imposed a seven-year ban sales by US companies to ZTE, but had suspended the ban based on ZTE paying most of the fine plus agreeing to punish the employees who hid the sales to Iran. The US found out that ZTE was defying the sanctions and gave managers who had been involved in the Iranian-related operations bonuses. In April, the Administration reversed its suspension of the US sales ban. ZTE halted production last week as a result.

The hypocrisy of Trump cutting a big Chinese company a break on recidivist behavior in violating US sanctions on Iran, versus about to make life miserable for a lot of European firms who want to trade with Iran and have governments that want them to trade with Iran, will not be lost.

As I said earlier, Sessions and Trump are pumping out fake news to get to the leakers. This is evidence of my theory.

What specific leaks are fake and which are real?

Since you know claim to know everything that's going on, tell everyone here.
