DFS to Hou is huge!
Atlanta landing NAW would be a true kick in the nuts tbh
@Sam_Vecenie
(think there's a good shot LaRavia is an upgrade of DFS for the Lakers. If not an upgrade, at least very close for a fraction of the price)
Any predictions on what Kornet gets?
I’m guessing 3/$30M
Not sure. LA desperately needed defense and spacing last year, so why no effort to retain him?
I do wonder if these 'reasonable' contracts are more an indication of fewer teams having cap space or the effect of the new CBA?
Probably knew they had LaRavia in their back pocket and felt like he can do just as good of a job for half the money.
I guess they'll be the first team in league history to play only one side of the floor.
dayron sharpe got 6 mil per year. im not sure kornet is much more valuable. many assumed laravia would be approaching MLE money got he just signed with 6. its a buyers market right now
I think the only way the Lakers could open up the non tax MLE of ~$14M was to let DFS go, otherwise they would only have the tax MLE of ~$8M.
They probably had the LaRavia deal worked out before hand and then wanted to use the non tax MLE on a C or maybe two C’s.
Probably a bit of both. Teams are still stupid, though, so I am sure if more teams had money, they'd probably still throw out silly contracts.
The first is caused by the second.
From a non-Spurs perspective... I hope Shams is about to drop the hammer on some major trades that shake up the league. He heard the criticism during the draft and is here to make amends with CHAOS
For this year, sure, but will it have a similar impact next summer?
FWIW, I believe this means the Lakers are going to be hard capped at the first apron
An hour in and we haven't signed Kornet, Yabu, or traded for Collins? Fire Brian Wright

Free agent guard Tre Jones has agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal to return to the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. Kevin Bradbury of LIFT Sports Management finalized the new deal with Bulls officials tonight.
Tre Jones staying with the Bulls. 3 years/$24M. Good for him tbh.
LeBron(ny) for Markannen would make a lot of sense.
You may be right, but I think Kornet producing on a winning team and in the playoffs vs. Sharpe producing on one of the worst team in the league adds a couple million a year. Maybe not $4M though.
I saw the first half of the tweet about Tre Jones that said RETURNING, I was like NOOOOOOOOOO lol
somehow the Bulls resigned Jones for less than the Spurs paid him. Overpaying is in this franchise DNA.
Different deal, but it might. A number of the FAs that teams were hoping for in 2026 are off the board, or soon will be. We’ll see what teams do with that cap room.
Glad Tre got a contract. Really good guy and solid player. I wish him well.
3/$24 for Tre Jones to return to Chicago. Happy for him.
