Role players stepped up tonight. I guess Spurs did not want to be humiliated on national television. It was funny seeing Tim after the game. He was stunned that the Spurs won.
Jacque Vaughn was a ing warrior.
I've always been a fan of his.
Big props to JV11.

Neither have the SpursHopefully they can build on this win for the rest of the trip
Yeah the Spurs passed the Lakers and are 2 back in the loss column to the Lakers and the Mavericks
BUT THE SPURS ARE DOOMED!!!![]()
Duncan fought through the beatings and continued to work on both ends.
Finley hit some big 3's.
Ginobli was clutch at the ft line.
Udoka and Bowen hit some timely baskets.
Vaughn took what was given and did his best. I was surprised how easy it was for him to get the basket. Yes, he took a lot of jumpers but he got his way inside quite a few times.
Oberto had a nice quiet and effective night.
Stoudamire choking at the ft line was icing.
hey, manu and finley had some awful passes too
not in the second half
Finley only had 2 turnovers and both were in the 1st half.
I was surprised Phoenix didn't try to pressure him when he brought the ball up like 6-8 times in a row in the 4th quarter.
How huge was it that Duncan kept his cool and did not get ejected when all those bull calls were going against him??!!!!
As some player once said, "Duncan is a gangster."
come on tho.. who is pretty in surprised?? i am
IMO the unsunghero of the night is Bruce Bowen.
His defense on Nash, and his defense of the passing lane was superb in that 4thquarter.
A big reason for the Sun's offensive struggles.
We could go back and forth all night about him.
He's simply incredible.
Yes - I think he was surprised that he was the one doing the interview and not Steve Nash! Also, I liked Tim's veiled dig at the officials - he said "it just seemed that the feel of the whole game was against us."
And then he summed up the Spurs whole at ude - "but we just kept fighting and pulled off the win."
GO SPURS!![]()
Artest explained: "I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn't do anything, he didn't react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett's a--, and won the damn championship. You know what I'm sayin'? That's gangsta. Everybody can show emotion, dunk on somebody, scream and be real y; but Tim Duncan is a ... he's a pimp."
word. glad you pointed that out. bowen did a nice job harrassing Nash.
Celtics after beating the Mavericks REMAIN UNBEATEN against any West team. It will be nice if we can beat them on Feb.10.
Never underestimate the heart of a champion!!!
what a great win for the Spurs..still played crappy though, but i forgive them as long as they won
The Spurs started playing Spurs basketball in the last 90 seconds. They played Spurs defense. Maybe this will get them back on track!
WOW what a game! So exciting to watch!
First, welcome back Finley! A clutch shot right there!
Props to Vaughn for stepping up! Good game by him! 17pts!!! Season high!
Amazing defense by Bruce on Steve Nash!
Props to Timmy! 16 pts, 17 rebounds!
Props to Manu for clutch FTs! 19 pts, 12-12 FTs...amazing.
It was a refreshingly nice team win. I like how even though Tim/Manu didn't have a good first half, they still fought through it and came out so much better in the second half.
This is a HUGE win, very ugly game but they never gave up from the start. The thing that stood out to me was the defensive rotations. Previous games they werent making the proper defensive rotations and guys were WIDE open MANY times. Tonight not so much, there were a couple of times but not as much as in recent games. They seemed to play with a sense of urgency tonight. Big Up's to Michael Finley for hitting CLUTCH shots, Bruce Bowen's D on Nash, Timmy hanging in there, Manu being Manu even tho he struggled, Udoka hanging tough, and Vaughn even though he missed many wide open jumpers still being aggresive when need be. Great win guys, now build off of this and keep it up. You can do it! Believe.
I agree...I don't think I've seen Manu play so many minutes as he had done lately...41 minutes is a lot...Tim also played a lot of minutes recently.
I wonder if Pop will now play everyone a lot more minutes due to TP being out with an injury...
(From ESPN Recap)
Ginobili finished with 19 points -- all in the second half ....
Ginobili said that despite trailing all of the first half and most of the game, the Spurs were confident.
"At the half, I was scoreless, Tim [Duncan] had only six points and they [the Suns] had 15 points off turnovers, but we were only down six points," he said. "So we were optimistic that we could get the win.""We should have been behind by a lot more at the half," Duncan said. "But we gave ourselves a chance with our defense."![]()
